Cat
Enid noticed the sudden change of emotions coming from Wednesday since she made her watch a movie about cats fighting. Enid would never think that a simple movie would change her, yet it did.
Wednesday still refused to tell her what was on her mind. So she needed to improvise.
Catching him is going to be easy. Enid thought as she put a bottle of nail polish down, attached to a string. In a mere moment, the single hand ran towards it, and as he grabbed it, Enid yanked the string, lifting him up.
"Got you." She said, looking out of the window as Wednesday was still playing her cello.
'I've done nothing wrong!' Thing signed, still hanging from the string.
"You didn't, but I need to know what's wrong with Wednesday," Enid asked, as Thing was turning around.
'I'm not going to tell.' "So no more doing nails for you," Enid said, hoping that Thing will give up.
'No, not that!' Thing signed. 'She wants a cat.'
A cat? Enid thought. So it was really that movie.
She never would've thought that Wednesday would go soft, and she would've wanted a cat. Why doesn't she get one, I'm sure her parents would be happy.
"Are you lying?" She asked the hand just in case, but all she got was a negative answer.
Some time while Enid was thinking, Wednesday walked in and walked to her bed.
"I'm seeing that my torture trait rubbed on to you, Sinclair," Wednesday said, unbraiding her hair.
"Oh..." "When I was younger I used to burn him in the fireplace," Wednesday said. Enid had to believe that; it sounded like what would Wednesday do.
"I'll let him go," Enid said. "Goodnight Wednesday."
"Night Enid," Wednesday said and hid under the covers.
So a cat would be welcomed to her black heart, huh? Enid thought before also laying in her bed.
The next day
Wednesday woke up, feeling not good. The scent she smelled every morning wasn't there, meaning Enid wasn't there. As she lifted herself up, she was right; no Enid was there, and no Thing was present. Only a small piece of paper was on the bed.
Wednesday stood up, made her way to the paper, and began reading.
Wends,
I am out in the town, and hopefully, I'll be back in a reasonable time. If not, then look for me.
- Enid <3
Why is she so obsessed with these emojis? Wednesday asked, hoping Thing was with Enid.
Enid was running to the nearest pet shop, receiving strange glares from everyone. She got into the small building, hearing all kinds of noises already.
"Hello, may I help you?" The cashier asked. No one was there, because it was early morning and it was Saturday.
"I would like to see the cats," Enid said, and the cashier nodded. They walked further into the store, where Enid saw small cats in cages.
"Do you have some kind of preference?" The cashier asked as Enid kneeled down to see them better.
"Um...I want it as a gift for my friend, soo..." "If I may ask, what is your friend like?" "She is smart but cruel, she hates affection, and she loves death," Enid said, slightly scaring the cashier.
"O-Okay." The cashier sighed and looked around. "What about him?" She pointed at one cat in the corner.
It was a black kitten, with a white color on her paws. He also had small ears, covered in white fur.
"He is beautiful," Enid said, looking at him closely. The cat seemed to like Enid because when Enid gave him her finger, the cat started licking it. "I would take him."
"Very well. May I also bring some necessary stuff for the kitten? Like food, bed, and these things." "Yes, thank you," Enid said, as the cashier opened the small gate to the cage, and the cat walked out, into Enid's hands.
Wednesday will love you, just like she loves me. Enid thought, and slowly petted the kitten.
Where is she? Wednesday was asking herself, waiting for her "friend" to come back. She was gone for a couple of hours now, and the only thing she knew about her was that she took Thing with her.
But at the same moment, Enid walked through the door.
"Hey, Wends." Enid walked up to her and went to hug her, only to see Wednesday step back. Enid still kept a smile on her face, as she threw her bag onto her bed.
"I got you something." "Enid, I didn't ask for anything," Wednesday said, turning around, and sitting down on her bed.
"No, but I thought that you would appreciate this," Enid said, grabbed a box from the outside, and brought it inside, in front of Wednesday.
"Why is that box so big?" "Because the best person needs the best gift!" Enid said and sat beside Wednesday.
"Now, open it," Enid said, and handed Wednesday one of the knives she confiscated from the girl. Wednesday took it and sliced open the tape on the box.
She carefully opened the box, not knowing what to expect. But as soon as she even looked inside the box, she was almost dead.
There was a cat.
"Enid..." "Open it more, I want you to hold him!" Enid begged as Wednesday continued to open the box. She got to the point where she could open the small cage, so she opened it, and very carefully lifted the cat up from the cage.
"Awwwwwww." Enid let out, and she took a picture, to which Wednesday was completely oblivious.
"What's his name?" "He doesn't have one, the owner needs to name him," Enid said, and looked at her.
"L-like...me?" Wednesday asked, and Enid nodded.
"Lilac." She said and looked at the cat. "His name is Lilac."
"Are you happy?" Enid asked, having problems staying in one place.
"How did you know?" "Well, you seemed kinda off since we watched that movie, so I kinda figured it out," Enid said, still looking at Wednesday and the kitten.
"Thank you very much, Enid," Wednesday said and smiled at the blonde.
"My offer still stands though," Enid said, as Wednesday sighed.
"Enid, I...I am still not sure." "That's okay! I told you to give it time." Enid said. Wednesday came closer to Enid and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. She then handed Lilac to Enid, who seemed to like him more than Wednesday herself.
"So this will be your plushie now." "No, ours. I kinda don't want the burden all on my own, so I would be glad if you helped me take care of this little devil." Wednesday said, rubbing Enid's thigh.
"I hoped that you would tell me that." Enid smiled and petted the small kitten.
