Another Way Out. Regulus x reader

Part 2.6

It was that easy!

I crumbled the paper and put it in my pocket.

Then I put the leaf behind my teeth and began to eat.
This won't be so bad.

After breakfast I went to my first class of the day; Defense Against the Dark Arts.

I've never been as good with DADA as I have been with potions or herbology or ever transfiguration. I wasn't bad at it but I wasn't amazing.

It was the bookwork that stumped me, I could perform the spells but I couldn't do the bookwork.
I am dyslexic.

So most classes were I have a lot of bookwork I struggle with.

The only thing I liked about DADA was the fact Regulus was in it.

As soon as Regulus came in I walked over to him.
He didn't have any friends in the class and nor did I.

This class was mostly filled with Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students so we didn't have to worry about people saying anything about us hanging out.
"Reg," I said as I walked over.

"I have a problem" I groaned.
Regulus raised one eyebrow.
"Tell me something I don't know" he chuckled.

I looked at him with an angry face.

"I'm serious" I groaned.
Regulus stopped laughing and tilted his head.
"Really, I don't remember Sirius being so pretty?" He commented.

Huh?

Before I could ponder what he just said any longer regulus continued talking.

"Okay but in all seriousness, what's wrong"
I took a deep breath.
"So.... There is a very good chance I won't be able to play quidditch this year" I sighed
Reguluses face dropped.

"Why? What happened" he asked
"Well. After the whole bludger incident last year, I've been having difficulty doing anything. Today at practice I had to do a slothgrip roll into a starfish and stick maneuver but after the bludger comes towards me I freeze." I mumbled.
Regulus looked at me for a bit before saying anything.

"Okay, well lucky for you I know exactly how to help you," Regulus said with a grin.
I looked up at him.

"Really!" I squealed.

"Sure, how about we meet after school today and I'll help you" he offered.

Extra time with Regulus. You don't have to ask me twice.

I went and gave him a big hug
"Thank you" I whispered into his chest.
"No problem" he chuckled.

We talked for a few more minutes before class started.

"Alright class, today we will be using some of the spells we have learned in the past few years and practice dueling" the professor announced.

The whole class murmured, excited.

"Shh, now I want you all to gather around. This right here is where we will be dueling" the professor said pointing to a long wooden walkway.

"I will pick students at random who will then duel"
Everyone was obviously excited, we had never been allowed to duel before and now we could do it without getting into trouble.

The whole class gathered around the table and waited for the professor to choose the first two students.

First, she chose a Hufflepuff boy and a Ravenclaw girl.

That duel didn't last long since the Ravenclaw girl accidentally cast a spell that hit the ceiling and the boy used a spell that backfired on him.

The next group didn't do very well either.

Nor did the next.

"Alright, how about Mr. Black and-" she looked around before staring at me.

"And Ms. Sutton" the professor pointed at me.

Oh no.
I'm going to make a fool of myself!

I took a deep breath.

I can do this
I can do this

"You can do this" Regulus whispered into my ear.
I looked at him and smiled.

I got onto the table and walked to the opposite side of where Regulus was.

I got into my dueling stance.

I looked over at Regulus who, based on his stance, looked like he knew what he was doing.

"You both ready" the professor asked
Both me and regulus nodded.

"Then let the duel commence" she announced.
Both Regulus and I bowed and then got back into position.

Regulus was the first to strike.
"Stupefy" he cast.
I quickly blocked it before casting my own spell
"Titillando"
Regulus quickly blocked my the spell with a flick of his wand.
"Trip" Regulus shouted.

I didn't block it in time and I tripped.
This gave Regulus the ability to cast a second spell
"Locomotor mortis" he cast causing my legs to not be able to move.

While on the ground I cast a spell
"Petrificus totalus"
I hit him.
Regulus stiffened and fell to the floor.

Who won?

The whole classroom was silent.
"Well, I have never seen fourth years with such talent when it comes to dueling let alone two students," the professor said while both me and regulus were still unable to stand up.

"You guys should join the dueling club" the professor announced.

I looked at the professor with a puzzled expression.
"That sounds magnificent professor but I would ask. Can you help us, Neither Regulus nor I can currently walk"

After class, I walked with Regulus for a bit.

"Are you going to join the dueling club?" I asked Regulus.

Regulus thought about it for a second before responding.

"I guess I will if you do"
