"Wake up kid, we have arrived"

A faint voice hovered in my mind when I woke up trying to recollect everything.

Mom repeated once more before she opened the door of her side and got out of the car. I looked outside through the window. It is dark.

I leave the car, straighten my dress, and rub my hair.

We walk inside.

This is our family house owned by my uncle. We have to visit this place at least twice a month. I was so tired when I reached home that I pleaded with my mom to let me stay at home this time but as always, who am I to be listened to? Thus here I am with my swollen eyes and a frustrated face entering the hall full of people.

"Hello, Daisy! You have grown up so much... Such a pretty lady you have turned into"

Says Aunt Jully.

"We literally met last month-"

I say whispering to myself.

"Yes?"

She says holding my palm.

"I am pretty good..."

"Leave her Jully. Come let's sit there"

Says Mom dragging her best friend away.

"Go and have your time, child"

Says Dad gently patting my shoulder before reaching the table full of men.

I slowly walk ahead trying to find people of my age but honestly, I am better off alone right now.

"Dude where did you run off to in the morning?"

I look behind, startled.

"Hello to you too George"

I say.

We sit on the vacant sofas near the toddlers.

"I had something really important to do actually"

I say in a low voice.

You will not cry here, Daisy.

"And how did it go?"

He says passing over the plate full of nuggets.

"What do you think?"

I remove all the fakeness I was carrying on my face till now for a while.

"Really bad..."

He says pasting every inch of his lips to the other.

"So shut up"

I say biting on one nugget.

"I can't do that but I am glad"

He says under his breath.

"What?"

I say frowning.

"Drinks?"

He asks, grinning.
