Another Way Out. Regulus x reader

Part 1.9

After getting full out of the water I felt colder than before.

I began to shiver as I walked back to the school which seemed to be meters and meters away.
Soon enough my teeth were chattering and I lost feeling in my extremities.

As soon as I made it into the school I felt warmer.
But as I walked back to the common room a black haze began crossing over my eyes and the whole world went black.

I woke up in the hospital wing, and based on the sun shining in, it was now morning.

I looked around and saw Remus lying on a bed on the opposite side of the wing.

Sirius was right next to him holding his hand while Peter was lying on the floor next to him completely asleep.

I looked to my left and saw Lily and James asleep in the same chair, almost cuddling. How cute.
A few minutes later madam Pomfrey came in with some medicine for Remus who, honestly looked like shit.

What was wrong with him?
She left the room but then came back with some odd-colored liquids for me to drink.

She was silent and said nothing as she completed her job. Once she gave me my medication she left.

I sighed and looked over to see if James or Lily had woken up.
To my dismay, they were still completely asleep.
Well isn't this great. I have nobody to talk to.
I closed my eyes and rolled over in bed with a grunt. It actually hurt a lot to move.

As soon as I got comfortable I opened my eyes and almost screamed.
Jesus Christ, had Regulus been there the whole time?

"Holy shit regulus, you can't just sneak up on people like that!" I whispered.
Regulus didn't respond, all he did was look at me. I couldn't tell what his facial expression was saying but all I knew was that he was not happy.

His silence was making me slightly uncomfortable so I cleared my throat,
"What are you doing here?" I whispered to him
Regulus leaned in, never breaking eye contact and he began to whisper.

"I think the real question here y/n is what were you doing swimming in the lake at night"
How did he know?
"How did you kn-" I began before he interrupted.
"I was sitting in my common room last night and through the window, I saw a disturbance in the water so I went to see what it was. But guess what, I didn't make it outside before I saw you laying on the floor soaking wet so, tell me right now what you were doing"

He was pissed. Did I really disturb his reading that much that he is pissed off at me?

I sighed.

"Regulus, I went for a walk last night to clear my head. But you know what last night happened to be. A full moon" I explained slowly.

I watched the realization wash over his face.
"The werewolf," he said in a whisper so quiet I almost didn't hear him.

"It chased me, so I ran into the water hoping it wouldn't follow which, luckily for me, it didn't" I calmly said.

Regulus didn't talk, he just looked at me.
"Are you okay?" He asked in the most sincere voice.
I nodded.

Regulus sighed and looked away.

"I'll see you in class y/n," he said
As he got up he chuckled a little.

"Just try not to get killed by any werewolves before then. How else will I complete our project" he smirked before walking away.

Why was he here when I got up, it had to be six in the morning.

Almost as soon as Regulus left James woke up.
When he saw I was awake he woke up lily.

"Y/n what happened, are you okay?" Lily asked.
"I'm fine, I just went swimming in a frozen lake. No big deal." I answered casually.

Lily looked like she was about to go full-on mom.
"What were you thinking? Going swimming at night especially when it is still so cold out. You could have died." She began to lecture me for a couple of minutes before James stepped in.

"Hey Lily, why don't you go and get her some breakfast? She is probably super hungry" James suggested.

Lily sighed but eventually agreed and walked away.
James looked at me once she left and started talking.
"Y/n, you need to be more careful at night.
Especially when there is a full moon."

Wait what!

"What do you mean especially on a fu-" I began before James cut me off.

What was it with guys not letting me talk today?
"Look. I can't explain right now but I promise I will tell you everything soon. Just promise me you won't do anything like that again. If Regulus wasn't there you would have died."

Oh, he must have seen Regulus bring me in while he was here with Remus.

I hope Remus is okay, he looks terrible.
"Alright, I get it. Now can you let me sleep? Like you said I almost died last night and honestly, that takes a lot out of a person" I said before smiling.

James sighed before getting up and walking away.
There was obviously some really weird stuff happening and the marauders definitely knew what it was. But honestly, I was too tired to even be bothered with what it could be.

So I rolled over and went back to sleep.
