Another Way Out. Regulus x reader

Part 1.6

Holy shit.
Holy shit.

He needs to back up so that I can think clearly.
I could smell him so well, he smelled like sandalwood, black currant, and slightly like parchment.

He smelled really damn good.
I started fumbling through my bag and I pulled out the toy cat.

Regulus looked down at the cat and smiled.
"Is this what you wanted to give me?" He said pointing at the cat.

I nodded a yes, suddenly at a loss for words.
He took it out of my hands and held it.

"Did you make this?" He asked curiously
"Yes. I thought that making you something would show that I actually meant that I am sorry" I said.

"This is very thoughtful y/n. I definitely forgive you." He said
"Thank god" I breathed out
" I am sorry as well. It wasn't fair of me to bring up your mom. Especially since I can assume she is a hard topic for you." He said with a gentle voice.

" thank you regulus for saying that, it means a lot"
I said with a smile.

Looking at him now. He had a really nice smile.
Suddenly loud knocking sounded from the door.

"Reg. Are you decent" came the person from the other side of the door. Reguluses face dropped.
"Oh shit. You can't be seen in here" Regulus whisper yelled.

" where should I go" I panicked.
The knocking came again.
"Regulus, if you don't respond I'm just going to walk in."
Regulus looked around and then pointed to under his bed.

"Give me a second Evan. I just need to put on some pants." Regulus said in an unbothered voice.
I quickly ran to his but and slid under.

I was expecting it to be gross underneath his bed since he was a guy but it was surprisingly clean.

"Reg I've seen you in less, I'm not going to wait out here while you put pants on." Said the voice who was apparently named Evan, as he walked through the door.

"Hey man, you will never believe what happened at din- what are you holding" Evan said pointing to the stuffed animal I had made for Regulus.

"Oh um, you know y/n from potions class right" Regulus started
"Oh yeah, the girl that you're always studying with," Evan said with what I'm guessing were air quotes on the word studying.

"Well first off we are actually studying, but she uh made me this" he explained.

"Regulus black you sly dog. You bagged sunshine!" Evan roared.
Wait sunshine?
"No, I didn't. She is just very nice and decided to make me something" Regulus claimed.

Evan obviously wasn't listening since he started to ramble on
"You know what, I'm not surprised. If anyone could do it. It would be you, but come on you have to tell me how you did it"

"Did what," Regulus asked
"How did you get the nicest, and happiest person at Hogwarts to go for you? I love you and all but you aren't exactly a ray of sunshine. So please tell me what you did" Evan pleaded.

Regulus let out a groan.

"Evan, I didn't do anything. Me and her just study together sometimes." Regulus explained.
"Yeah but you also sit next to her every day instead of me, your best friend" Evan pointed out.

Wait does he choose to sit with me instead of one of his friends? For some reason that caused my stomach to fill with butterflies.

"You are ridiculous Evan" Regulus sighed as I heard his footsteps move closer to the bed. Regulus then sat on his bed and laid down.

"If I'm so ridiculous then why are you turning redder than a tomato, you also seem to be holding onto that stuffed animal like it is your lifeline" Evan chortled.
"I don't think I'm ridiculous, but I do think you are delusional," Evan said before leaving the room.

As soon as I heard the door close I crawled out from under the bed.

"I am so sorry for that" Regulus groaned into his hands.
"It's fine" I giggled
"Although, what do they mean by sunshine," I asked.
Regulus looked at me. A slight smile crept onto his face.

"You have a bit of a reputation for being very very nice. So whenever the other Slytherin kids talk about you they call you sunshine. Personally, I don't understand it but, it kinda stuck once it started"
I looked at Regulus in shock

"What! First of all, I am not overly nice. People only think I'm that because I apparently dress like I would be depressed and mean and the fact that I am not shocks people." I explained
"Second. This is something everyone in Slytherin does!" I continued.

"Yes, the entirety of Slytherin" Regulus disclosed.
I sat there. On the floor and just thought about it for a second. How had I not heard about this before now!

"How often do people talk about me" I began
Regulus paused, almost like he was trying to think about whether he should lie to me or not.

"You're not talked about all the time but especially now, since Sirius screamed about us snogging in the library. People have been talking a bit more."

Regulus announced incredibly calmly.
"Oh" was all I could say

Regulus obviously saw that I was a little uneasy about being talked about by my peers in that way so he got old the bed and sat next to me. He put his hand on my shoulder and calmly said

"Don't worry. It's just stupid gossip. After a couple of weeks, it will all go away"
This made me feel oddly a bit better and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Thanks" I giggled
As soon as I started laughing regulus started to smile.

We just sat like that for a while. Us both on the floor and reguluses hand on my back.
After a bit, I decided it was probably best for me to head back to my dorm and get some sleep.
"I should probably get going" I announced to Regulus.

"Probably" Regulus smirked.
As I got up and started to head out regulus stopped me.

"Wait. Won't people see you leaving? Most people are back from dinner by now" Regulus said.
"Don't worry" I said, patting my bag. "I have something for that." I continued before walking away.

Once I was out of reguluses dorm I took the invisibility cloak out of my bag and put it over my head.

With the cloak, I was able to sneak out without anybody even suspecting a thing.

On my walk back to the common room I couldn't help but think about everything that just happened.

First of all, regulus was very well built. If I closed my eyes I could still see it. But that is a little creepy so I refrained from doing so.

He also loved the stuffed animal which made me so happy because I did put a lot of time into making it and I really wanted him to like it.

When I entered the common room I heard a voice call out to me.

"Hey y/n"
I turn to see Lily walking over to me.
"Hey lily how are you" I replied back to her.

"I'm good," she said before giggling.

I was curious to know what she was giggling at so I asked her what was so funny.

"Nothing," she said "You just seem very happy. You are smiling a lot. Did you happen to go see any boys tonight?" She said trying to pry out any drama that she possibly could.

"No, I'm just happy. Goodnight lily"
I said before running up to my room.

I wouldn't say I was happy because I was hanging out with Regulus. He is just my friend. I'm also pretty sure he doesn't think of me as a friend. Either way, there is no possible way that he was the reason I was happy.
