Another Way Out. Regulus x reader

Part 1.4

I ended up eating the whole tub which I would probably regret later but, eh.
After eating the last bit I threw out the container, washed the spoon, and put it back from where I found it.

After I finished what I had come there for I walked out of the kitchen, back into the hallway, up the stairwell, and out into the hallway. Before I went into the hallway I checked to see if there were any patrolling prefects. There were none so I headed out when suddenly I heard a noise.

I froze as soon as I heard it, and I began looking around to see if it was a student but I saw nobody.
I listened again and heard the noise from outside.
It sounded like a wolf howling.

I walked over to the nearest window and looked outside.

What I saw made my blood freeze.
There was a werewolf.........
I quickly ducked down hoping that it didn't see me.
After a few seconds I decided to look at it again so I got up and peered outside.

It was still there but it wasn't alone. There was a big black dog and a stag with what looked like a rat sitting on its head.

They were running in front of the werewolf causing it to run into the forbidden forest.
After the werewolf ran into the forest the other animals ran after it disappearing from view.

Holy shit.

There's a werewolf at Hogwarts!
After a couple of seconds of being in shock, I was snapped out of it when I heard some muttering coming from down the hall.
The prefects were coming.

I quickly rushed to the stairs and ran up as fast as I could.
I ran up to the fat lady and went back into the common room.

After I closed the painting I let out a heavy breath.
That was a pretty crazy night.

After an Excursion like that, I was incredibly tired so I headed back up to my dorm to go to sleep.

After last night I had to tell Regulus about what I saw. At this point, he was the only person that was really talking to me.

So when I started heading to potions class I was almost sprinting to get there.
As soon as I got to class I spotted Regulus and ran to sit down next to him.

"Woah, why are you in such a hurry today." He said once I sat down.
"You will never believe what I saw last night," I said slightly out of breath.
"Dumbledore naked," he said with a deadpan expression.

It took me a second to process what he said so when I responded I stuttered a bit.
" no-ew what, why would I have seen that? How do you even come up with something like that."
"Hey, I don't know what you do in your free time. You could be really into old dudes and I wouldn't know" he said in a way to serious way.

I started to smirk a bit when he said this and in my happiest tone I said to him,
" regulus if this is your way of trying to learn more about me and the things I do in my free time. All you had to do was ask. You didn't have to bring up our naked headmaster. Unless that is something you think about a lot"

That definitely caught him off guard as what seemed to be the shadow of a blush started to creep onto his face.

" what- no... I didn't mean....what were you going to say when you walked in" he said in a hurried voice.
"Oh right. Well, last night I decided to go and get food in the kitchens-" I began to say before Regulus interrupted me.

"Wait how did you get in the kitchens."

"It doesn't matter, anyway, as I was walking back to the common room-"

"Did the prefects catch you?"

" oh my god let me tell my story!" I scolded after being interrupted again

" Sorry"

" anyways. As I was walking back I heard something outside. When I went to see what it was, guess what I saw" I said to him waiting for an answer.

When he didn't respond I asked again,

"Guess what I saw"

"Do you want me to respond or are you going to yell at me again." He responded with a cheeky grin.

" oh my god regulus. When I ask a question, you should answer. Guess what I saw!" I said getting increasingly more irritated.

" I don't know" he responded "Two kids snogging"

" no, I saw a werewolf," I said in a hushed tone.

The moment I said this reguluses eyes opened wide.

"Are you sure?" He asked me.

"Yes" I responded

"Are you one hundred percent sure?" he asked

" dear god regulus, what is with you today," I said getting increasingly annoyed with him.

" wait so you saw a werewolf on school grounds?" He asked, ignoring my previous comment.

" yes. And it wasn't alone. There was a big black dog and a stag and a rat with it too." I said getting increasingly more excited as I told him more.

"Wait what? What were they doing?" He asked as he pulled his face.

" they were getting the werewolf to go back into the woods. It was so odd. It was like they were all friends or something" I said as I tried to remember exactly what I saw.

" wait, do you think this means that one of the people here is a werewolf" Regulus asked with a hushed tone.

"Well, last night I thought about it and I am pretty sure that it is a person at Hogwarts. I also think that the other animals were animagus." I said getting excited when I mentioned the animagus.

But as I said this Regulus raised his eyebrow and looked at me saying.

"Y/n, to become an animagus you have to be an incredibly powerful wizard. The chances of one of our peers being able to do that without registering to the ministry is low. Let alone three people."

" I'm serious. Just think about it. A werewolf is a person who changes. The chances of a werewolf befriending three random animals are incredibly low. In all reality, it makes more sense for them to be animagus than for them not to be." I said trying to explain my thoughts.

Regulus looked at me and then said,
" fine, hypothetically speaking, say they are three animagus helping their werewolf buddy. My main question is who are they."

"You see that is also what I want to know. I think that there have to be telltale signs of someone being a werewolf. Unfortunately, I don't know them. That's why I was thinking that maybe we could try and figure that out" I said

Once regulus heard me say this he raised his eyebrows and said.
"We? Are you sure Sirius would be happy with us doing that"

"Well. No. He would kill me but honestly, I don't care. He is super mad at me and he hasn't spoken since that whole incident." I said in a sad tone.

I genuinely don't like that Sirius is mad at me, I also don't like going behind his back and hanging out with his brother regardless of the fact that it is okay for me to study with him. But honestly, I care more about finding out who it is than I do how Sirius thinks of me right now.

" alright. As long as you understand he will definitely be pissed off." Regulus said.

"Perfect. So after classes today meet me in the library. I think that we can figure out who it is if we figure out what some signs of changing are." I said
"Alright, I'll see you then. Just make sure to brush your hair so my rings don't get caught again" he said with a slight laugh.

After he said that I turned away as I started to blush.
