Chapter 43

Well here I am standing in the middle of some random pitch not too far from our hotel. Random people are around watching while I'm trying to concentrate on what the next drill is. There's so many cones and poles and footballs and people. *THUD* I'm on the ground. "What the hell" I say " you weren't paying any attention will u wake up" Georgia says to me in a serious tone which is kinda odd coming from her.

I just nod it off and get up and follow the others to some come and follow what they are doing. It was obvious that I wasn't confident on what to do but I did it anyway. The training ended up being hard. The running and the pace we brought to it was quick and we needed to be in the zone. We didn't get much rest or breaks between drills we just did some stretches and moved on.

(2 weeks later)
Yes we have been here for 2 weeks and we are prepping for our first group game tomorrow against Haiti 🇭🇹. Now it may seem like we should win the game but it's the World Cup so you never know to be honest. Over the past few weeks I have shared a room on rotation. Between Lucy, lessi, Keira and currently leah. As a group over the 2 weeks we have done some team bonding of going out, whale watching, exploring for the best coffee places, surfing, seeing different beaches and stalking all the kangaroos around the place. We mostly did it to clear our minds, we knew this was big and that a lot of people would be watching so we had to be ready.

I was told I was staring the game.
This was the line up.

Now I'm not going to lie it is a good line up, and yes I was nervous to get a World Cup debut in out first game. I needed a good nights sleep and well some sleeping pills for it to happen.

I somehow wake up nicely at 10 near the exact same time as Leah and we head down for breakfast. We sit on the  table with Keira, Lucy and lessi. I gave Lessi a little morning kiss which made Georgia shout from across the room to keep it pg. breakfast was quick mostly because everyone had to get ready. As it's the first game there's a lot more media to be done. And not just for a few people it's for everyone so they asked questions about how we were feeling and predictions and by the time they got through everyone it was time for us to leave to get to the stadium.

We were here 2 hours early and people are already outside the gate. We obviously greeted as many as we could before we were getting escorted into the player entrance by the security.

Not long later kick off happened. It wasn't the hardest game in the world but we could not score. No matter how hard we tried we would break down the the final third or just miss the target completely. We were doing everything else right expect for that. At least we know what will be in the next training session.

Half time came shortly later we no changes. Not long after half time we had to adapt, we brought on Rachel for Beth and toone for Stanway. The minute they came off we got a pentacle which was unlucky as Georgia is our penalty talker but Chloe Kelly decided to take it and with her hop she smashed it into the goal.

The game didn't change after that. We stayed as it was until the end. We weren't exactly over the moon with the score but we were happy with the 3 points.

Not long after we got back to our hotel we all decided to chill and watch the live of Georgia in the lioness down under with Jill doing it. It was quit entertaining to watch.

Everyday was the same, we didn't have time to ourselves much so me and lessi only spent time together a lot on the pitch we didn't manage to do a few swaps sometimes to sleep together or even for naps.

Our final group match's we're against china and Denmark. We won both games with us only finding ourselves in the china game. I score 2 and assisted 2 in the 6-1 game against china and to Denmark we won 2-0.
We haven't been too lucky with the goals until the china game which game which gives us some confidence for the round of 16.
