What Happened Next

Start from the beginning

A few moments later and the sound of a bowl being dragged along the floor reached Enid's ears. She turns to look at Thing, somehow dragging along a full bowl of water with a black cloth inside. He leaves it by the girls feet before rushing back off to grab the first aid kit.

"Thank you, Thing."

Enid takes a deep breath before turning to Wednesday, "I'm going to start by cleaning both wounds and then I will stitch them both up, I'm assuming you would rather me do it than the nurse."

The goths eyes flutter open and settle on the blonde, lips ticking up slightly. "As much as I would rather neither, I know it needs to be done. Proceed."

Picking up the cloth and squeezing it of excess water, Enid starts to wipe up the blood around the stab wound on Wednesday's stomach, taking extra care when she sees the slight wince on her face, hating the thought of hurting her.

"I'm sorry, Willa. I'm trying to be as gentle as possible."

"Do not worry. I can handle it, Sinclair."

While Enid focuses on cleaning the wound and trying not to hurt the girl, it was Wednesday's turn to admire the girl in front of her.

Watching as her tongue pokes out slightly as she concentrates on the task on hand, how she tries not to cringe when more blood pours out of the wound.

During her time staring at the other girl she does not notice Thing coming back to the two of them, this time with the first aid kit, leaving it next to the slowly colouring water.

Thing makes sure he's out of Enid's eye-line before signing out a quick message to Wednesday, before darting up onto the bed to rest next Enid in case she needed his assistance with the stitches.

'Youve gone soft on her, you've fallen under the curse."

Enid looks up just as Wednesday sets her dark glare on the hand next to her, "What's got you so glarey, huh?" She says with a smirk.

Wednesday decides against answering and instead avoids Enid's eyes and looks at the floorboards next to her bed.

The wolf decides to ignore the unusual behavior and instead speaks up again. "Okay, I'm done with cleaning them, now I've just gotta stitch them both up before wrapping them, is that alright?" She starts grabbing the necessary items needed while talking.

"Thank you, Enid. But I can do it myself, well I can do my stomach and Thing can stitch my shoulder."

"No, Willa. You cannot do it yourself, I know you pride yourself in your abilities, and I have no doubt that you could actually do it but I won't let you. You kept flinching when I was just cleaning it you would be in too much pain. Plus, I want to help you."

The only response Enid got was a slight nod from the other girl before her eyes dropped to the floor again.

Enid grabs the needle and thread and starts with her shoulder wound first. At the first stitch, Wednesday squeezes her eyes shut, bringing her hand up to squeeze at the blondes arm.

The girl in question tries not to focus on the cold hand on her arm, or the fact she can feel the other girls breath on her cheek, instead focusing on getting the stitches right. Thing sticking by closely to make sure she does it right.

Wednesday looks up to see Enid staring intently at the task at hand, holding her breath when she realizes how close they are, resisting the urge to lean in and kiss the girl she has come to call a friend.

Maybe I have gotten soft on her.

That very thought scares her more than any monster could. She closes her eyes again, trying to think back on all of their interactions lately that might clue her in to how this happened.
