"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly

But rarely ever admit the changes
It has gone through to achieve
That beauty."

I sipped on my soda sitting on a couch. A Spanish song that I don't know the name of is blasting in the background. I hummed along with it even though I don't know Spanish nor I can make out one word of the lyrics.

But, who cares?

Kai has despaired off to somewhere with his pairs. Not that I mind as long as I am left alone. He talks too much and gives me a headache.

I swayed my body along with the bites spinning around. My peace was short-lived when someone stepped on my shoe, more like on my toe. Ouch, that hurt. My pretty little toe along with my soda is gone.

The soda fell from the cup on my black dress. It might not be seen but I can feel the sticky feeling on the side.

I knelt messaging my feet where it was painful. "I am sorry." I got up nodding at the boy who stepped on my shoe. He has short chopped brown hair, probably at the high Kai is. "It's okay," I assured him giving a small smile, I turned around to get away. I guess it was accidental.

"Your soda fell because of me. Let me grab another one for you."

"No thanks." it didn't take me a second to reject his offer. His face fell a little but it was not enough to deem his ever so bright smile.

"Then, can I know your name?" he flashed me his bright smile again making me wish that I wore sunglasses even at night.

"Sofia," I told him smiling brightly. Ali was a social butterfly. The type everyone falls in love with. Maybe his fan base was not as big as Kai's but it was enough for him to be invited to parties. Being the lovely best friend he is he dragged me along in them. According to him how dare he deprive me of my right as his best friend?
I know this game enough well now the next line will be along with the lines you have a beautiful name.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful lady."

Told you so.

"Wanna hear my number? it's even prettier" Shock morphed in his face but he concealed it better than the way my concealer hides my dark bags.

"Why not?"

I told him the number as he typed on his phone fast. He happily moved away after then claiming his friend was calling him. Makes me wonder how he heard his supposed friend over the loud bits of the song.

I shrugged sipping on the remaining of my soda. A pair of warm hands grabbed my shoulder shaking me frantically. Whoever it is he better be prepared to die.

I turned around irritated at the audacity of that person but it was now my turn to be surprised. "Brenda?" I asked her my eyes widening a little at the sudden meeting. Am I shocked that she is here? No. Am I surprised that she recognised me? Yes. I have a valid reason to be we are merely namesake friends.

"What was that?" she shrieked cutting off the pleasantries, pointing her finger in the direction the boy desired to.

"The cute boy I talked to? You know him?" I raised my brow questioning her. Is there any person she doesn't know?

"He bet on you to get your number. Now he won," she muttered bitterly now much more sorted than before. The real question remains how does she know it?

"How do you know that?" she halted on her rambling looking away guilty. She glanced at me once tucking her blonde hair. That look told me what I needed to know. She was also one of those who bet on it.
