Elda and Jan had gone back to Poland together again. Elda would have to leave after only a week to do some work in Sweden but had decided to come with to keep up her polish practise. Despite them being a lot in London lately she had kept practising with Jan, and as a slightly biased teacher Jan had to say she were doing great.

They had just arrived at a nearby coffeeshop, running inside, drenched in the rain that was pouring down and laughing together as the run to get there had naturally turned into a competition. Jan had won, and Elda was just happy Jan wasn't the type to just let girls win. As the door had closed behind them Jan reached out to push a wet strand of hair behind Elda's ear, although Elda had a different approach and quickly reached out to ruffle Jan's hair, messing it up even more than the rain had. Jan gasped in an offended yet teasing tone, trying but failing to mess up Elda's hair before she ran out of his reach. Jan simply laughed it off before turning to see which coffee shop they had ran into since they had simply chosen the first they could find to get out of the rain.

The coffeeshop was small and cosy, it seemed to be quite unknown since he had never heard of it before, and the only other guest was an old lady sitting at a corner table. Elda had gone to the counter reading over the menu, so Jan followed her. There weren't any staff visible, so Jan rang the bell on the counter when they had decided what to get.

The door to the staff room opened and as he could see the girl who came out of it, he felt a mixture of discomfort and nostalgia. Because the girl in question was Jan's high school girlfriend who he'd been in a relationship for a year when he was 16 years old. They hadn't exactly ended things on a bad note, they had broken up because Jan was moving to Ireland, and they soon ended up losing contact.

"Jann! Hi, it's been such a long time" she said excitingly in polish. As of now Jan was thankful Elda knew enough polish to be able to understand and speak it, even if it wasn't perfect, because he would hate to talk to his ex in front of her in a language she doesn't speak. "Alicja, hi. Yes, it's been a few years" he said a bit less excitingly yet still very kindly. "Elda this is Alicja, we used to go to school together and dated at 16. Alicja, this is Elda, my best friend and roommate." He continued in polish. They greeted each other politely and despite her slight mispronunciations Jan was proud that Elda effortlessly held the conversation in polish.

They told Alicja their order and as they had to pay Elda spoke up. "I'll pay, I lost on the way here either way" she said with a small smile, looking at Jan. Jan looked teasingly at Elda, quickly taking out his card and scanning it at the register as he said "too late" with a pleased smile on his face. Elda simply responded by frowning and mumbling about paying the next time.

"So, what have you done since last? How come you're back in Poland?" Alicja asked as she started making their coffees in an attempt to start a conversation. They did talk with each other a bit, Jan being too polite to end the conversation. Although as Alicja stayed behind the register after their coffees were ready, attempting to keep the conversation going, Jan started feeling a bit uncomfortable. It's not that he didn't like Alicja, no not at all, she was really sweet. But she was interrupting his time with Elda. Although despite his slight discomfort he ended up having a nice time and enjoying catching up with an old friend. As Alicja went to clean up after the old lady in the corner, Jan took the opportunity to tell Elda what he had been meaning to do before they went inside the coffee shop.

"Jan leaned into Elda, whispering in her ear. "Do you want to know a secret?" he said mischievously before leaning back again. Elda turned a curious gaze towards Jan, raising a single eyebrow. "I'm working on an EP" he said with an excited smile on his face.

Elda's eyes turned excited, her expression matching the one on Jan's face. "Really? That so cool! What songs will be on it?" she asked in interest. "I actually took some inspiration from your last song; you know the one about the weird constructs on society. You made me realize I have loads of opinions on it myself and it turns out it works really well in my songs as well." Jan said, expressing his pride for both Elda and himself. "I'll probably add some other songs as well, I know I want Promise in it as well". Elda smiled at him, silently expressing her gratitude.
