3 months. That's how long Jan got to enjoy one of the most genuine friendships he's ever had. Turns out it wasn't so genuine after all because all it took for Elda to forget and abandon Jan was a guy much more attractive and fun than him. Jan knew all about him of course, Elda had been telling him everything and they'd spent countless hours giggling and gossiping like little girls. And that was fine, it really was. Sure, Elda was a bit occupied, but she was still there to tell Jan all about it, and he couldn't exactly be mad at her for falling in love. There was one catch with this guy though; he lived in Sweden and Elda had never met him in real life. After just some weeks of talking to this guy Elda decided she would go to Sweden to meet him, and as a caring best friend Jan had first asked her to stay at her family's place since she had still not met this guy, turns out they lived too far away for that to be possible. He had then offered to come with her since he didn't want her to be alone with a stranger, but Elda didn't consider him a stranger and apparently it would be weird for Jan to come with her. So naturally, Jan made her promise to keep in contact with him and tell him if anything happens. Elda did tell him when her plane landed and even expressed her feelings of excitement and nervousness, however, as Elda first met her mysterious guy that changed. Severely.

That night Jan had tried to call Elda to make sure she was alright and that her guy didn't seem creepy or suspicious. She didn't pick up. Of course, this made him worry for her, but decided that it was probably going well, and she didn't have time to talk, an explanation that hurt Jan's feelings a bit but at least lessened his worry. That night he stayed up overthinking why she didn't answer, and his head came up with reasons ranging from Elda finding Jan boring to Elda having been murdered by her mysterious guy. The next morning, he tried to call Elda again. She didn't pick up. That when Jan really began to worry, because if anything had happened to Elda, he had no way of knowing if she didn't answer her phone.

One missed call is
Enough to make you worry
To make you feel you're boring
Make you stay up till morning
Thinking what the hell have you been doing
When I've called you
I've tried to talk to you

The next day Elda answered Jan's many texts with a simple "I'm fine". Jan had of course questioned whether she really was fine and why she hadn't answered him before. The answers he got didn't make him worry less, rather the opposite.

"I don't know what you
 mean Jan, I'm fine,
why wouldn't I be?"

"I just mean that normally
you wouldn't avoid my
calls so it had me worried
something had happened
to you"

"Well nothing's
happened,
you don't need to
worry"

"Are you sure?
You're fine then?"

"Yes I've already said so"

"So what is it then?
Is it me? Have I done
something?" "I'm sorry if
this is my fault"

That last text was left on read.

You say I don't know what's going on
Tell me if there's something wrong
I'm not taking "no" for answer
I know there is something more
I can tell that you are different

Is it my fault
Is it something
That I've done?

Some weeks later Elda released a song called "För evigt" or "Forever" as Jan got to know when he put the whole song into google translate. He had tried to talk to Elda, she never answered his calls and very rarely his texts. Elda had already released a few songs in English before she met Jan, some of them which had been quite successful in Sweden, so all her socials were active and public, this was to Jan's advantage. From her Instagram he got to know that she had decided to switch to Swedish because it felt more genuine for her, that's also where he got to know that the song was about Eldas relationship with the guy who was now her boyfriend.
