Chapter 16: Hostage

Start from the beginning

He had blond hair in a bun who seemed content that he arrived which he was feeling more and more on edge the more he was there.

However Hector noted that there was no fourth council member. Hector then began to think that the rumors that the fourth council member was actually kidnapped.

'Kidnapped? No way. They've got to be pretty stupid for that to happen.'

"Hello bounty hunter. I'm guessing your wondering why we asked for you to come." The blond man said.

"I would say more forced than asked." Traya responded unamused which the woman spoke up.

"Sorry, I know this wasn't the best first impressions we were going for but we didn't know how to get you two to listen to us."

"I am councilwoman Stella. To my left is councilman Ziro and to my right is councilman Theodore, Headmaster of Shade Academy. But as you've noticed our fourth council member isn't here."

She said which Hector took as his cue. He then took off his scarf revealing that signature white smile.

Taking a bow he then looked back up and said.

"Hector Garcia De La Cruz at your service... for the right price."

In the background Traya smirked upon seeing the Headmaster frown on how he was willing to offer his "services" so confidently. Hector had built up a reputation of being cold, calculating, and ruthless in short time span.

So when the councilman Topaz went missing they knew that time was up the essence.

They knew since councilman Topaz was pushing towards more transparency for how the dust was acquired and better working conditions.

A certain family started making large donations (basically bribery) so councilman Topaz could drop the topic so when he disappeared a few days ago it didn't take a genius to know what had happened.

"Down to the point, I like it." Ziro said winking at the bounty hunter.
"It is no secret that the Florence family has taken Topaz hostage."

'Never-fucking-mind.'

"His openness to crack down on crime certainly made him alot of enemies. If word gets out that the Florence family kidnapped him it would only embolden crime syndicates throughout Vacuo." Councilwoman Stella said.

"And why contact the bounty hunter? I'm sure there would be capable Huntsmen to do the job." Traya asked in a smug voice knowing the answer but wanting to hear the answer herself.

"We do have the Huntsmen that have the skill but what we need is someone who can conjure up a unique plan." Ziro said.

"Of course we would provide everything for the mission, should you accept it of course." Stella added.

Hector turned to Traya who nodded but Hector knew there was something Traya wanted to hear from Theodore.

"I'll accept should each of you accept that I'll be the one calling the shots and I don't get into any legal trouble seeing as you're all familiar with my... work ethic?"

Hector said in front of the Vacuoan council.

"I agree." Stella said.

"I see no problems." Ziro said shrugging.

Then all eyes were on Theodore who was silent until he asked,

"Why should we hire him? He's just a kid."

"Hey hey hey! Just accept the deal." Ziro said holding his hands up.

"Oh I know what this is about." Hector said pointing at the Headmaster.
