"Hello, this is your pizza hotline. How may I help you?""Hello, this is your pizza hotline. How may I help you? I've memorized your line."
"I can see that."
"Hearing it everyday."
"HANDS IN THE AIR!"
"What was that?"
"Oh God, help us. Call the police, call the police!"
"Hey, are you okay? Gunshots?? At a pizza shop?!"
"Get the police! Quick!"
"Okay! But I'll have to hang up-"
"Then do that!"
"Be careful."
"I'm under the table."
Beep, beep, beep.
I fumble for the three digits I never thought I would need."911, what's your emergency?"
"I-I think there's a shooting at a pizzeria." I manage.
"Where, ma'am? Please speak slower so I can understand."
"Yes. The pizzeria is called "Pizza" they also have a hotline. I was just calling through it with one of the employees when I heard someone shout 'hands in the air.'" I tell her.
"Okay, police are on their way."
"Thank you. Thank you so much. I really don't know why someone would try to rob a restaurant in broad daylight." I hope he's okay. I really hope he's okay!
"Is there someone in there that you know?"
"A... friend," I told her, now noticing that my hands were shaking.
"Do you know how many people are in the building?"
"At least one other person."
"Okay."
I don't even know him for so long yet... I was just about to make a new friend...
"I've just received news that the police have arrived."
I exhale and my heart is beating again.
I can't believe that just happened.
