"Are we all ready?" The vampires and the wolves had all gathered in the bayou, ready for the fatal task ahead. Niklaus stood proudly of both sides of his heritage, feeling somewhat at home.
He heard cheers emerge from the vampires and a few from the wolves. They still didn't trust him. But Clarissa had asked him to ready them for battle as she tries to come to terms with what is to come.
Elijah finally approached the group of warriors, ready for battle. "Are you ready brother?" Klaus caught sight of him and jumped of the rock he stood on to walk up to him
"Readier than I'll ever be" Elijah had his hands in his pockets but did not look at his brother when he spoke "I'd be even better if I knew what you and Clarissa were up to"
"We aren't really up to anything, it was a matter of events, she suggested something, I reluctantly agreed and gave her the materials she needed, it's her choice from now on" klaus explained that even if Elijah knew about what Clarissa had up her sleeve, he couldn't stop her.
"...and" Klaus started to smirk "I have the exact ingredients needed to kill that blasted witch"
"Last time I checked, you needed the blood of whatever witch she loved" Elijah observed, Niklaus had trouble finding the witch
"Well, I've found her and I'm sure that she is the one we're looking for" he smiled

"So you're the girl" Clarissa turned around to see a woman stand at the door. She had blonde hair and was dressed in tattered clothing
"Who are you? How do you know my name?" Clarissa sat up from moping to question her
"I'm Esther, Elijah's mother" she smiled
"I've heard nothing but bad news about you; I thought you were dead"
"I was but it turns out my blood is the key to Dahlia's demise" she filled her in on the little facts and stories of their childhood "but it looks like Niklaus isn't the only one playing with the lives of my family"
"I don't want to speak about it, the decision is made, I just hope you get to Dahlia in time" Clarissa turned around to hide her bleary eyes
"I wanted to meet the girl my Elijah was so infatuated with, but I also came here to tell you, I agree with what you're doing, it is the best thing to do for Elijah, he deserves this" Esther placed a hand on Clarissa's shoulder before turning to leave.
"Great" Clarissa exclaimed to herself before gulping down the drink that she had laid on the table. She then proceeded to get up and leave the room.
"Looks like somebodies finally got out of bed" Klaus joked
Elijah looked at the dark rings under her eyes and a tiny piece of hair looked out of place. She hadn't got any sleep.
He walked to her. To meet her half way, blocking off any path that she could use to avoid him. "Clarissa..." He began "please, tell me what is wrong"
"It's not even a big deal Elijah" she couldn't look him in the eye "It's nothing" this was the longest they had spoken without sarcastic comments or her getting angry
"I need to tell you that whatever happens in this fight, I will protect you as you are the most valuable thing I have in my life and I'm not letting go of that" he spoke with more emotion than Clarissa has ever heard him speak, which only pained her more
"Elijah, please..." Clarissa sounded like she was about to cry, she needed him to stop, she couldn't bear it
"No, for the past couple of days I have stood by not doing anything in order to win you back; this is my chance, we will find each other after this and we will make this work..." He went to speak on and on about building a relationship and gaining trust but Clarissa decided to crash her lips onto his.
Elijah's hand raised to wipe her hair from her face and then caress her cheek. Clarissa's hands held his head in place until she was ready to let go. "I love you" Elijah blurted out as they broke off, which only killed Clarissa more
"I love you too" she smiled. The couple turned at the sound of footsteps in dozens.
"What are they?" Clarissa walked up to the beginning of the forest and listened closer
"That's the sound of war" Niklaus indicated
"Oh it is indeed" Dahlia smiled, with both hands stretched out "and meet my army"
Loads of people emerged from the trees, looking very angry and determined "I bet you're regretting this now Clarissa" she winked at her, knowing what has to be done before clicking her fingers and allowing her minions to pounce.
