Jughead's Narration:
Our story is about a town, a small town, and the people who live in the town.

Jodie's Narration:
From a distance, it presents itself like so many other small towns all over the world.

Jughead's Narration:
Safe.

Jodie's Narration:
Decent.

Jughead's and Jodie's Narration:
Innocent.

Jodie's Narration:
Get closer, though, and you start seeing the shadows underneath. The name of our town is Riverdale.

Jughead's Narration:
And our story begins, I guess, with what the Blossom twins did this summer. On the Fourth of July, just after dawn, Jason and Cheryl Blossom drove out to Sweetwater River for an early morning boat ride.

Jodie's Narration:
The next thing we know happened for sure is that Dilton Doiley, who was leading Riverdale's Boy Scout Troop on a bird watching expedition, came upon Cheryl by the river's edge.

Jughead's Narration:
So a week later, the Blossom family buried an empty casket and Jason's death was ruled an accident, as the story that Cheryl told made the rounds. That Cheryl dropped a glove in the water, and Jason reached down to get it, and accidentally tipped the boat, and panicked, and drowned.

Jodie's Narration:
As for us, we were still talking about the "July Fourth tragedy" on the last day of summer vacation, when a new mystery rolled into town.

Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe
(Night 1)

Allow me to introduce myself; the name's Jodie Jones. But you can call me "JJ", most people do. Around here, my twin brother, Jughead, and I are known as "The Weird Loners". I really don't care about what the idiots at our school say. It just sucks I'll have to see them again now that school starts back up tomorrow. As for how I was spending my last night of summer vacation, I was working the last thirty minutes of my shift at Pop's. For the most part, things were slow. We just had a few customers, including my best friend, Betty Cooper, and my brother's ex-best friend, Archie Andrews. Ugh, I was really trying to restrain myself from kicking his ass. Honestly, I don't get why Betty has a crush on him.
