"Are you done yet?"

Yuan asks me with a bad posh accent as his voice echoes out the speakers of my laptop on my messy bed.

"Ano 'yon...? What the hell was that bad attempt at a British accent?" I say, laughing to myself habang tinu-tupi ko yung mga damit na dadalhin ko para sa flight naming dalawa kinabukasan.

It was the night before my student exchange day, the day when I would get to travel to my first international school.

The Eureka International Academy.

It's this boarding school in Whitby, Yorkshire situated near a seaside cliff with a Beaux-Arts architecture style.

It has a mystical front courtyard with a large fountain in the middle, a deep forest you must go through to get to the school, and a massive field just a five-minute walk away from school where students probably frolic and play, have picnics—whatever those British people do... Drink tea? I have no idea.

All I'm saying is, this school is quite literally my dream come true. Once I get there, I'd probably be starstruck. Sa tagal kong nag-tiis sa masikip at mainit na public high school sa pinas, when I was given the opportunity to represent my country as an exchange student, even if this was just for a year, I just had to take it.

"Bakit ba, I'm trying to pr-augh-ctice my augh-ccent." Yuan answers, trying to squeeze out the non-existent British accent out of himself like an almost empty ketchup bottle.

"Alam mo naman hindi sila ganyan mag-salita diba? Masyadong exaggerated yung sa'yo tanga." I say, looking at my laptop, seeing Yuan lying on his bed while holding an open book.

Pagkatapos kong mag-ligpit ng gamit, dumiretso ako sa higaan ko para mag-pahinga.

I was so ready to sleep. I wanted tomorrow to happen already. Why do I still have to sleep through one night to get there!?

"Excited ka na ba?" I asked Yuan as I got myself ready to sleep. I snuck my feet inside my blanket, and I comfortably sat the laptop on my lap.

"Not exactly. Baka mami-miss ko yung school natin... our friends, si-" he says before realizing what he was about to say.

The corners of his mouth rose.

My eyebrows furrowed as my once tired face was now grinning.

"Huy!! Sino!?"

I sit up from my slouched position on the bed.

His soft smile turned into a mischievous sneer; his cheeks started glowing red.

Oh my god. Yuan G. Perez, my book nerd, lanky friend, has a crush! I can't believe it. Well, he is tall and kinda cute but, he is kind of built like a fridge, so tall he literally can't fit in tiny spaces—and kinda cold when you don't defrost his fake 'pa-pogi' personality.

"SINO!?" I screamed accidentally. Wala na akong paki-alam kung magising sila mama. I need to know who he likes! This is BOILING HOT tea.

"Hulaan mo." He says, crossing his arms as he puts down the book he was reading. "Hmm, who would Mr. Perez like..." I say scratching my chin.

"Lalaki o Babae?" Tanong ko.

"Gusto mo hulaan pareho?" My jaw dropped.

"HUH-" I look at him as he laughs at my confused expression.

"Isa lang!"

"Okay okay- Yung relevant lang." He says, fixing his position on his bed as the dim light of his laptop illuminated his face in his dark room.
