"I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though"

"Am I early? I tried really hard not to be" Madelyn says joining her fellow fourth year residents

"That doesn't bode well" Jackson comments

"We did the same thing with Bailey when we were interns. Take turns treating a dummy, get an early lunch, then get back to work. It's lame" Alex complains

Owen comes rushing in "Charter plane was forced into an emergency landing and collided with a greyhound bus. Mass-casualty situation" No one moves giving each other confused looks  "Do I need to say it again? Let's move"

They all grab gowns and rush out, running down the halls "Close to 30 victims in the field, some critical. Multiple blunt trauma injuries" Hunt explains along the way

But once they arrive out in the trauma bay, and see there are about 30 bloodied dummies laying on the ground everyone groans apart form Owen who stands there smiling

"And I was so looking forward to an early lunch" Madelyn sighs

"This is gonna suck" Meredith adds

"Welcome to trauma certification. You will work in teams. Each team will be responsible for nine casualties. You may treat your patients using only what you can carry with your two hands from this ambulance"

The residents gather in their groups, Madelyn being with Jackson, Meredith, Alex and April

"The evac helicopter is on its way. You get your patients on the helicopter, you get certified. Are you ready? Get to work."

"According to this card, this guy's got a blown right pupil, An atlantooccipital dislocation, open-book pelvis, A large open abdominal wound ... Jeez! ... A sucking chest wound with seven broken ribs. This guy is all messed up" April exclaims reading from the card

"Or he's dead" Madelyn says

"Ah. Right. Yes. Moving on" April says moving to the next dummy

Madelyn notices Cristina watching her fellow residents as Owen tries to convince her to join in, obviously Cristina says no and heads back in

"Grey. Congratulations. You're, uh, you're certified. Now can you go inside and, uh, give Cristina a hand?" Owen says suddenly

"Well, what does she need? Did she ask for me?"

"Meredith if it's not you going then it's Shepherd"

"Oh. Me please, please let it be me" Madelyn practically begs already bored of the trauma certification

"Meredith....Please. Okay?" Owen asks agin trying to ignore Madelyn still begging to leave

"Yeah. Ok" Meredith agrees following Cristina inside
