I remember dinners with my parents where my dad would complain about having to sit in a 3 hour meeting to discuss something that could’ve been an email, I never understood that feeling until now.

We were on video number 3 which was 20 minutes long after watching 2 other video that were 15 and 25 minutes

The first video was a standard introduction talking about why we have a student council, why it’s important, what we do, and how we help the school; I had no idea why it was so long but it was.

The second video was about being respectful of your council members and the people we debate when we go to other schools which included two adult teachers acting out scenes which were so painful to watch.

Now we were on the last video which was more like a reminder that school should be our top priority and good grades are important.

The video was half way over when Achilles grabbed my hand from under the table and squeezed it gently. My body hummed with his touch, I felt like time stopped but apparently I was wrong because suddenly the video was over and the lights suddenly came back on.

“Okay, any questions?” Brises asked us and no one hand was raised

“Great now remember our next meeting will be on campus Wednesday” She said as she handed out pink calendars of our events

“Bring your laptops, notebook, whatever you can write on” Brisise handing the last one to me

“And wear pink” Iphigenia added

“I said no” Brisie told her and grabbed her backpack

We all walked out and stopped to get ice cream together, again but once we separated  again I realized I had to go home, home to mom and dad and have a serious talk about the divorce.

Who's gonna move out?

Mom probably

Who would I live with during the summer?

Again more likely mom and maybe dad on the weekends

What about school?

I couldn’t think of an answer immediately, dad is the one who wanted me to go to a private school, but with mom leaving and him getting demotivated he might swallow his pride and sent me to public school, away from Achilles.

“Ready to head home? I’ll walk you” Achilles offered

I wanted badly to say no, I wanted so badly to run into the forest and ever come out, but I had to face this sometime.

“Yeah lets go” I said to him and he held my hand as we walked to the nearest bus stop, we went inside and I noticed it was pretty full, I looked around to see any empty seat together but my thoughts we interrupted when I felt Achilles hand on my hips and he pushed me down on his lap

I was so embarrassed, but Achilles was so shameless with his fingers locked around my stomach and placed his head on top of my shoulder

We got some glances from people and one kid who was staring at us until his mother told him to stop, but overall nothing happened and we made it off and walked the rest of the way to my house.

“This one” I told Achilles as we stopped at my house

“Oh” He simply said and I became very self conscious

I was far from poor and I always thought the houses we lived in very nice but after seeing that Achilles practically lived in mansions.

I was worried what he would think seeing I only have one normal home.

“It’s cool” Achilles said

“I need to head home the maid probably told mom I was gone, I’ll text you later” He told me and pecked me on the lips

“Just so you know, Kissed you because I like you” Achilles joked and I laughed with him as I watched him run away to caught the next bus

I never noticed but the way he runs is so angelic, He almost looks like he’s dancing

I relaxed my muscles as I walked up to the door and knocked. I didn’t get an answer so I knocked again louder, still no answer so I knocked a little harder.

“Jesus Christ just opened the door!” I heard my father scream, I open the door and shocked to see him

He was slouched on the couch, he was wearing some old green T-shirt with the color heavily faded and had some stains, he was also wearing black sweatpants and was surrounded by beer bottles and wrappers from fast food places.

I’ve seen my father happy, proud, angry, and even sad but I’ve never seen him so defeated, he had the look and behavior of a man who lost everything and couldn't lose anything else.

“Yay your home” Mom said and hugged me and kissed my cheek

“Yes I’m home” I said still staring at dad who still haven’t said anything to me

“Your dad relaxing right now, Let’s leave him alone” Mom told me and took my hand

“Philomela, bring me another beer” Dad said, His tone confused me because what he said was definitely a demand but he asked in a nicer told

“Okay, Patroculs we need to talk so go to your room” Mom told me, I nodded and walked upstairs as she walked into the kitchen

I sat down in my room and waited patiently for mom to come back. It wasn’t long until I heard her footsteps coming up the stairs and saw her smiling at me in the doorway.

“I brought you homemade mini donuts, Your favorite” Mom said and walked inside and gave me a ziplock baggie and sat down next to me

“So we need to talk” Mom told me
