The atmosphere was quiet minus the fact that Imani couldn't help but eye her sister who grew oblivious. They were now walking with K-Ci and Jojo as they led them to the studio to meet the others.
"Are you going to continue to stare at me or tell me what's wrong?" Eve whispered with a glance at Imani who shrugged.
"I don't know you tell me—I seen the way Sean was looking at you and girl he was looking hard." during most of the meeting Sean kept eyeing Eve who paid no mind to where his eyes lingered. There was no denying that Eve was a beautiful woman that left men staring a lot.
Eve almost laughed keyword almost "Please, he is not my type and I ain't dating someone who calls themselves Puffy." Eve always ran into men like Sean Combs, and no matter the talent she would stay clear of it.
"Y'all do realize we can hear y'all right?" K-Ci spoke in an obvious tone causing the two sisters to clear their throats while looking away.
"Sorry about that," Imani mumbles finding the wall more interesting to look at. K-Ci however didn't seem phased "Don't worry we won't say nothin'."
"Anyways, we heard your demo and you have an amazing voice." He adds while taking a turn "Damn near had me thinking I was back in church."
Imani stared at him in disbelief "Y'all heard it too." It surprised her that they also heard it and thought she sounded good. I mean Puffy did say that there was gonna be a lot of buzz surrounding her throughout the label so it made sense.
"Yeah, everyone was talking about the new girl that Puffy discovered and how her demo is insane."
Imani let out a hum after not knowing what to say and it went quiet after that.
"Anyways where y'all from?" Jojo asks hoping that it would break the awkward silence that was going around. Imani noticed how Jojo was quieter and kept to himself opposite to K-Ci who was more open.
"Atlanta Georgia." Imani took pride in where she came from and would always represent it wherever she went "Bankhead to be exact."
"Yeah, now that's what I'm talking 'bout finally somebody other than us who's from the south." nearing a door Imani couldn't help but hear the smooth melody of a song. You couldn't hear much due to the sound coming off slightly muffled but it reminded her heavily of Papa Don't Take No Mess by James Brown.
