He stared at the text, his heart dropping with the fear of being found out. The elusive dot, dot, dot, the words staring back at him unfeeling, he didn't know if she was asking jokingly or if she was upset, embarrassed, disgusted... Is Maze your ex? How should he answer?

What do you mean?

That's the best he could come up with. Honey was probably on her way upstairs again, headed straight into their dysfunction.

"Everybody knows," Maze repeated, sliding away from him and his phone like grains of sand. She called out from the bedroom. "Tell our guest I'm gonna hop in the shower but I'll be right out."

He wanted to hit the escape key on today, the backspace on Maze to make life a bit easier for him. She was making him ruin a good thing because of history and his heart and it made no sense. His phone buzzed.

Can't explain it, but you guys just seem lk you used to be a couple

Nah. Never.

Oh, this is awkkkkward lolll... Welp. Don't get any ideas

Maze is-

He was about to type 'like a sister to me' but refrained- he couldn't look that lie in the face.

You have nothing to worry about.

Blu would tell her eventually, he would, now just wasn't the time.

I promise I'm not an insecure girl, Maze is just nothing I could've expected. The coke bottle figure, the sultriness? Jessica Rabbit looks like a thumb next to her

Please don't say any of this to her face. The last thing she needs is another compliment rn

Lmao, you're so mean 2 Maze like relaxxx

No, you don't know her like I do.

Shush...Hold on babe, I'll be up there in a min for our smoke sesh, gotta take a work call

Ok

He plopped down on the sofa, mind racing.

What was he getting himself into? Agreeing with Maze that she could hang out indefinitely while they all started to feel looser from weed. He could only imagine the conversation, especially since his "roommate" was in combat mode. All blatantly jealous and shit. They were at odds with each other for probably the first time in their long history and it felt strange.

Honey was on to them, which was the primary reason he didn't want her and Maze meeting in the first place, she wasn't a dumb girl. He didn't know how long they could keep the charade up before she really started to piece the story together.

Plus she was his girlfriend now.

Crazy.

It was all a bit sudden how their relationship came to be. Mostly because he was mad at Maze and he needed Honey to feel less like a girl who hopped in and out of his life and more like someone he could build something with.

One night after the Big Argument, he was staring across the dinner table at Honey, the way she laughed, how she looked at him with her pupils dancing and he knew that look, he knew what it meant. He was her crush. So he'd asked her then, in that Italian restaurant, to be his girl. She was startled, perhaps he was too, but it was only right.
