Ash/Brooke POV

I smiled down at Maddie, her head laying on my chest.

Her eyes were closed, her chest rising and falling slightly. Her lips were parted slightly, her light brown hair tucked behind her ears.

I don't remember how long it has been since I last saw The Guard, my father or anyone else from the palace. Not even Will.

I wondered about him sometimes. Where he was now, what he was doing.

When I thought about it, it was probably about a year since I saw anyone from The Palace.

I kissed the top of Maddie's head, messing with her hair.

"Morning baby," she whispered.

"Morning," I whispered back.

She opened her mouth to say something when I heard a knock on the door.

I got up slowly, heading towards the door.

I balled my fists, ready to fight if I needed to. Sure it had been a while, and I should probably not worry that much anymore.

But was still worried.

I opened the door and saw Will standing there.

We both paused, not saying anything for a couple of seconds.

"Will?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Brooke?"

I bit my lip at the name. I hadn't used that name in over a year. Everyone just called me Ash now.

"Will I thought I would never see you again!" I smiled, rushing forward and hugging him.

"I can't believe I found you!" Will exclaimed, hugging me back.

"Come in, come in," I pulled him into the house, sitting him down in a chair, "Hold on, I'm going to put on some coffee."

I walked into the kitchen, starting to boil water.

I walked back into our bedroom.

"Who was it?" Maddie muttered, rolling over.

"Just one of my old friends," I smiled, kissing the top of her head.

"I see,"

"I'll be out there if you need me Maddie," I whispered.

She nodded as i turned around heading back out the door.

----------------------------------

"Good morning,"

I turned to see Maddie walking into the living room, rubbing her eyes.

"This is Maddie," I said to Will, "and this is Will,"

"Good morning," Will smiled.

"You want some coffee?" I asked her.

She nodded.

"I'll get you some, hold up," I kissed her forehead then stood up and walked into the kitchen.
