We sat there for who knows how long.

I watched the sun start to set over the water, turning the sky all sorts of pink, purples and reds.

I glanced over at the town towards my left. People were out, walking around, doing chores. But not many. It looked about time for dinner.

Thats when I saw The Guard.

They were regular knights as you would imagine, dressed in silver armour with scarlet highlights.

They held broadswords and shields etched with gold and scarlet.

Their footsteps echoed on the cobblestone. And they were coming towards us.

"Maddie," I whispered, waking her up.

"Yeah," she muttered, picking her head up and rubbing her eyes.

"We should probably go,"

She looked up, seeing the sun setting over the water.

"Yeah, we should," She nodded, standing up.

I stood up next to her, and we started walking towards the town.

My heart was beating so loud i could hear it in my ears and i couldn't breathe.

I maneuvered around The Guard, trying not to let Maddie see something was up.

"You ok?" Maddie asked, breaking the silence.

"Yeah," I said, trying to fake a smile.

We walked up to her house.

Our house.

I opened the door, holding it open for Maddie.

"Where have you guys been?" Andrew asked as we walked in.

Maddie started to go on a rant about the beach and skipping stones.

I smiled and walked in behind her.
