Part 5 - Together Again

(June sits for a moment.)

June: Juliuz? Are you still there?

Juliuz: [on phone] Yeah, I'm still here. Just... the guy that was after us tried to hurt Emerald, and I had to save her.

June: I get the feeling that you're not telling me the full truth, Juliuz.

Juliuz: [on phone] ...It's... kind of between just me and Little Em. Is that fine? (She looks a bit concerned.)

June: I guess so.

Juliuz: [on phone] Thanks. I'd better let you go. Emerald's got a bad cut that I'm trying to treat.

June: Okay. I'll talk to you later.

Juliuz: [on phone] Yep. Bye, mom. (She appears calm.)

(June leans back and smiles as she puts her phone down.)

Emerald: Ow!

Juliuz: I know it hurts, but stay still. I'm almost done. (Juliuz treats a scratch on Emerald's head.)

Juliuz: Hey Kiyoshi, can you grab me one of the bigger band-aids? (Shot of Juliuz as he turns and calls.)

Kiyoshi: Yep.

Juliuz: Oh, uh, thanks. I wasn't quite expecting that. (He reaches up for the bandage, which is hovering in the air. It has blue light around it since Kiyoshi used his powers to make it hover.)

Emerald: That's pretty cool.

Juliuz: Yeah, but I still don't understand it.

Emerald: Me either. Does he have a bunch of powers that let him do all that space stuff, or is it one superpower? (Juliuz puts the bandage over Emerald's scratch.)

Kiyoshi: I believe it's one power that lets me alter space in general. (Kiyoshi walks up.)

Emerald: That makes sense but also makes no sense at the same time. But, who cares? You're awesome!

Kiyoshi: [Quiet-ish] Thanks. (Emerald gets up.)

Kiyoshi: How iare you feeling?

Emerald: My ears are still ringing from Pearl's yell, so it's hard to hear well, and I'm still sore, but I'm fine. (They talk.)

Kiyoshi: Good! (Kiyoshi walks off.)

(Juliuz and Emerald are silent for a moment.)

Juliuz: I've got something to ask you. So, Octavio said that the two of you have been messaging each other. Was he lying?

Emerald: ...No. (They speak.)

Emerald: We were connected after we accidentally swapped phones. I didn't know who he was, but when he let me go on a rant about everything going on, I thought I could trust him. (She slightly looks away.)

Emerald: He told me that he could help me, and I believed him. I told him where I was, and that's how I got into the whole mess. (Juliuz listens intently.)

Emerald: I know... it's my own fault. I believed him, even though I didn't know him. I-I'm so stupid, I should've-

Juliuz: Wait, what are talking about? (She looks guilty.)

Juliuz: Little Em, this is not your fault.

Emerald: But... Octavio said it was. (Juliuz kneels in front of her.)

Juliuz: He's wrong. Octavio manipulated you on purpose so he could get what he wanted. He was trying to make you trust him for his own gain. And when you realized that everything was wrong, he told you that this was your fault so that he could keep you under his control. You had never asked for this. You were struggling, and Octavio took advantage of that. (He puts his hands on her shoulders.)
