Kilis POV

"Help!" The spider bit ever deeper into my leg. It dragged me farther into the woods.

"Kili!" Fili chased after me but he tripped and fell over. I started to kick the spider but it kept slashing and biting me.

Out of nowhere a redheaded elf appeared out of nowhere and started to shoot the spiders one by one.

"Throw me a dagger! Quick!" She huffed at me.

"If you think I'm giving you...a weapon, Dwarf...you're mistaken!"

Ulaalsias POV

"Search them." The blonde elf made his was towards me, his eyebrows burrowed together and his face was emotionless. But he turned towards Gloin and started to search him.

"Hey! Give it back! That's private!" The elf huffed at him and opened a small locket that Gloin had around his neck.

"Who is this? Your brother?" The elf started to chuckle.

"That is... my wife!" The elf continued to chuckle.

"And what is this horrid creature? A Goblin-mutant?"

"That's my wee lad, Gimli." He threw the locket back at Gloin. He walked towards me and turned to Thorin.

He searched through the pockets of Thorins jacket. He pulled out the sword that he found in the troll caves.

"Where did you get this?" The elfs face suddenly turned from emotionless to worried.

"It was given to me."

"Not just a thief, but a liar as well." I suddenly felt hands pushing me through the foliage of the forest. I turned round to see that my uncle was nowhere to be seen.

"Thorin, where's Bilbo?" Thorin turned round several times before sighing loudly.

"Unh! This is not the end of it!"

Later

"Do you hear me?! Hey, let us out of here!" Thorin kicked the bars of the cell door.

"Get off me!" I looked to see Kili being pushed into a cell by a tall redheaded elf.

"Aren't you going to search me? I could have anything down my trousers." She shook her head.

"Or nothing." I bit my cheeks to stop myself from laughing.

Later

"Again!" I suddenly heard Dwalin beneath me along with the clang of metal bars.

"Leave it! There's no way out! This is no Orc dungeon. These are the Halls of the Woodland Realm. No one leaves here but by the king's consent." Thorin shouted through the cell door.

He turned round and sank to the floor. I sat down beside him and patted his shoulder.

"Don't worry Thorin. We'll get out of here...one way or another...I'm sure of it..."

A little later

Thorins POV

"Some may imagine that a noble quest is at hand. A quest to reclaim a homeland...and slay a dragon.
I myself suspect a more prosaic motive. Attempted burglary."
I watched as Thranduil made his way around me, his eyes never leaving me.

"Or something of that ilk. You have found....a way in. You seek that which would... bestow upon you the right to rule. The King's Jewel. The Arkenstone. It is precious to you beyond measure. I understand that.
There are gems in the mountain
that I too desire. White gems... of pure starlight. I offer you my help." I looked up to him. He smirked at me.

"I am listening."

"I will let you go... if you but return what is mine. A favor for a favor.
You have my word. One king to another."

"I would not trust Thranduil...the great king...to honor his word...should the end of all days be upon us! You...who lack all...honor. I have seen how you treat your friends." He stared at me in surprise. He walked closer to me.

"We came to you once, starving, homeless..seeking your help. But you turned your back! You turned away from the suffering of my people...and the inferno that destroyed us!"

He walked straight towards me and stopped so that we were almost nose to nose.

"Do not talk to me of dragon fire! I know...its wrath and ruin. I have faced...the great serpents of the North. I warned your...grandfather of what his greed would summon. But he would not listen. You are just like him." Out of nowhere to Elven soldiers grabbed me and started to pull me backwards.

"Stay here if you will....and rot." He made his way up to his throne, his cape sweeping behind him like the softest silk.

"A hundred years is a mere blink... in the life of an Elf. I'm patient. I can wait."

Ulaalsias POV

"Did he offer you a deal?" I spoke to Thorin as soon as he entered the cell.

"He did. I told him he could go ish kakhfa ai-d dur-rugnu! Him and all his kin!" Member of the company shook their head at Thorin.

"Well, that's that, then. A deal was our only hope."

Suddenly my uncle appeared at the doorway, his face full of energy and mischief.

"Not our only hope."

Later

Kilis POV

"The stone in your hand, what is it?" I looked up to see the redheaded elf staring at my hand.

"It is a talisman. A powerful spell lies upon it. If any but a Dwarf reads the runes on this stone...they will be forever cursed." She stepped back a bit, her face mixed with fear and worry.

"Or not. Depending on whether you believe in that kind of thing. It's just a token. A rune stone. My mother...gave it to me so I'd remember my promise."

She walked closer to me, her headed tilted.

"What promise?"

"That I would come back to her."

She smiled. "That is a very good promise. What is your name...may I ask?"

"My name is Kili. What about you?"

"Tauriel...my name is Tauriel..." she looked downwards.

"I think it's a lovely name." She looked and smiled at me.

"I like your name too."
