NINETEEN

I've been sitting in my mom's driveway for a good 20 minutes.

I'm kind of shocked no one's noticed that I'm here, but at the same time, I'm glad they didn't.

I need time to collect my thoughts; to mentally prepare for seeing my mom again.

This is the longest I've ever been apart from her, and surprisingly, I didn't even miss her that much.

I know that sounds bad, but she did it to herself.

She betrayed me, and my grandmother betrayed me that's not something I'm just gonna get over.

They're supposed to be the people I can trust the most in the world, and they ruined that.

I start to chicken out, so I call Josh.

After about 40 minutes, I finally get out of my car.

With each step I take toward the door, I can feel the anxiety building up.

Anxiety isn't the only thing I feel brewing.

I'm also angry and hurt.

By the time I'm at the final step, I feel overwhelmed.

It's now or never.

I ring the doorbell and wait for an answer.

I could've just used my key, but it didn't feel right, considering my words before I left.

About a minute later, my mom answers the door.

Her face lights up when she sees it's me and charges to hug me.

"SHE'S HOME!" she yells.

I hear a stampede of footsteps then more people are suddenly on top of me.

It's all my siblings, plus Alabama.

Landon stands off watching from a distance with his arms crossed.

When everyone is off of me, he paces forwards and daps me up.

"Sup, sis."

"Yo, bro."

"We've all been waiting for you to come back!" my mom smiles.

"Don't get your hopes up; I'm not coming back just yet."

"WHAT! Why not?" Alabama questions.

"I'm not ready yet, but I am ready to talk. That's why I'm here to talk to mom and hopefully lovey too."

Life seems to drain from the crowd.

"Oh, I'll go call and ask for her to come over."

"Ok."
