"Shhh, I don't want my mom to know you're here, so just go upstairs."
He gives me two thumbs up before racing up the stairs.
"Hi, mommy."
"Hi, baby. Come."
She pats her lap which I take a seat in.
"How are you doing?"
She sweeps a few strands of my hair behind my ear while she gives me a concerned look.
"I'm getting better."
"That's good! How's Josh?"
"I think he's doing fine. He's really helped me with the grieving process so far."
"I'm glad you're healing together. Guess I'm gonna start seeing a lot more of him, huh?"
I chuckle lightly.
"Yeah, I guess so."
"Well, I love you. Go get some rest, ok?"
She says, quickly pecking my cheek.
"I love you too, ma. Good night!"

He turns his phone to face me.
It was a picture of us at dinner.
Don't get me wrong, it was a cute photo, and I had a great time at dinner, but I wasn't ready for this yet.

"It's no biggie; the breakups aren't even confirmed yet. Besides, we're not in the wrong; it was just a friendly dinner."
"Yeah, you're right; I'm stressing over nothing. Are you staying tonight?"
"It depends; do you want me to?"
"Yeah."

My cheeks grow flush, but I attempt to play it cool.
"Thanks, I really appreciate it."
"So what do you wanna do?"
"I wanna learn every little thing about you; no holding back."
"What's there to learn; you already know so much about me."
"Yeah, I guess, but we haven't ever been able to get really close because of our exes. Now it's just you. Who is Ryleigh Disick?"
"Honestly, I- I don't really know who I am anymore."
I could feel the tears building up in my eyes.
I felt Josh's hand rub up and down my back.
"Sorry, I dont know why I'm crying."
I try to wipe my tears, but my hands were trembling.
"Don't apologize. Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'd just rather not talk about this right now"
"Ok, how about we watch a movie? Whatever you want?"
"Sounds great."
We get into my bed, our limbs entangled.
I rest my head on his chest as he plays with my hair.
