Part 1 - Welcome to Our World

Juliuz: Who's this "Violet004"? You've never mentioned her before.

Emerald: Oh, she doesn't go to my school. We chat online sometimes.

Juliuz: Ah. Do you know her real name?

Emerald: Violet is her real name, but she just put "004" in because there's lots of other Violets online. (They talk.)

Juliuz: Okay, I guess. Anyway, when we get back to the apartment, both of you should try to act calmly, okay? The kid's pretty scared right now. And don't be surprised if he doesn't talk. He hasn't really said much.

Rosie: Okay!

Emerald: Sounds fine. (They walk away.)

Later...

Callie: I can't believe it! Kiku seems to be getting used to us really fast.

Marie: Really?

Callie: Yeah! (Both of them look down at Kiku, who's asleep in a guest room.)

Callie: She hasn't seemed scared of us or anything. And she especially liked to be with you today, Momrie.

Marie: Ugh. I hope she learns to properly say my name. (They walk out of Kiku's room. Callie laughs, and Marie rolls her eyes.)

Marie: But should we be serious about this? Kiku's nice and all, and I know that she seems to like me for some reason, but do you really think that I'll be good for her? I mean, I do like the kid, but I'm not sure if I'm going to have the patience for her or show her the right way to live. (She sits down.)

Callie: It'll take some work, but maybe this will work out. If we try hard, maybe we'll make good role models for her. (Conversation.)

Marie: I hope so. Still, I have a feeling this might end poorly.

Callie: I guess only time will tell. (They talk.)

(Later that night, Marie's asleep in her room.)

Sound effect: rustle rustle...

Marie:? (She groggily opens her eyes.)

Sound effect: Bump!

Marie:! (Marie fully opens her eyes as something bumps her.)

Marie: [Thought] Oh, you've got to be joking. (Marie sits up to see that Kiku is asleep beside her.)

Marie: [whispered] Hey, Kiku. You have your own bed. What are you- seriously, get up. Kiku! You don't always have to be right next to me! (She shakes Kiku, but Kiku is sound asleep.)

Marie: Move! (She shoves Kiku a bit.)

Sound effect: Whump! (Kiku falls off the side of the bed, but she's still asleep.)

Marie: Well, that's one way to do it. (She gets back under the covers.)

Sound effect: Bump!

Marie: Ughhhhh... seriously, kid, you gotta teach me how you keep sneaking around like that. It's annoying, but it could be useful in battle. (Kiku gets back into Marie's bed. One arm is dangling off the bed. Marie is frustrated. Kiku has her head on top of Marie.)

Marie: You know what? Fine. You can stay there for the night, but only because I'm too tired to deal with this. Just... don't snore. Please. (She leans back in defeat.)

Kiku: Znnnnnxxxx... znnnnxxx...

Marie: *groan* (Kiku is snoring.)
