Enter the Inktoling Twins (A Splatoon Script)

Part 1 - Welcome to Our World

Someone: Hey there! Are you okay? Can you see us? (The twins can't see anything.)

(The twins open their eyes for the first time. They're wet and confused.)

Callie: There you are. Don't worry, everything is going to be fine. My name is Callie, and this is Marie, Pearl, and Marina. What are your names? And where do you live? (She kneels by the twins.)

(They both stare. Kiku looks curious, but Kiyoshi appears frightened.)

Callie: Um, can you talk? (She is unsure.)

Pearl: Yo, guys! I found something about those two. (Pearl calls to everyone. Pearl is at a computer.)

Pearl: Doctor Nariko left a BUNCH of recordings here from the last seventeen years! All of them are about the Inktolings! It looks like... they've been in that container thing for all their life. And they don't have names. They haven't even opened their eyes once. [small text] Dude, that's weird. (Everyone crowds around the computer.)

Marie: So, they're basically babies? (The twins glance to the side.)

Marina: Not exactly! It looks like Nariko managed to give them some knowledge of the world and how to do basic day-to-day things while they were asleep. (The twins spot two sea bunny slugs on top of a shelf.)

(They both light up a little bit.)

Callie: Well, whether they were given knowledge or not, we can't leave them here. They need a home. Come on, let's get them- (Callie walks off a bit.)

Callie: Uh, where'd the twins go? They were just there! (She looks back at the place they were in, but the twins are gone.)

Callie: Um, twins?! Girl?! Boy?! Oh, we really need to give you names. (Everyone looks around.)

(Pearl looks up, a look of surprise on her face.)

Pearl: Hey, how the heck did you guys get over there? And without us noticing? (Pearl spots the twins, who are on top of the shelf, each holding a sea bunny slug.)

Marie: Okay, come down from there. We need to go. (Marie walks over to the shelf and looks up at the twins.)

(The twins glance at each other.)

Marie: Good. So, you guys can understand me. Can you say anything? (The twins hop down, each still holding onto their sea bunny slug.)

(The twins stare blankly.)

(The female twin reaches up to put her sea bunny slug on her head.)

Sound effect: *clap* *clap* *clap* (Kiku keeps her sea bunny slug on her head and claps. The male twin smiles up at her.)

Marie: I guess you two may not understand me as much as I thought yet. Okay, whatever. Let's go. (Marie starts walking out.)

(The twins appear right in front of her.)

Marie: Whoa! Okay, either we're going to have to watch you better, or we'll have to put bell collars on you. Just stop pulling Squidini tricks! (She slightly jumps in surprise.)

Marina: Haha! Those two are going to be handfuls!

Callie: I hope not. Someone will have to take care of them, and knowing where they came from, it'll probably have to be one of us. (They speak.)

Marina: Oh, good point. I guess that may change some things around here!

Pearl: Ugh, I JUST got used to having new agents around. Now I've got to get used to these kids? Hoo, boy.
