Part 1 - Welcome to Our World

Kiku: Momrie... uhmean, Marie...

Marie: Please just stay quiet for five minutes before I completely lose it! (She yells.)

Callie: What's going on? (Callie walks in.)

Marie: I thought this would be a bad idea. I'm not right for the annoying little kid. She needs to stay at another one of the agents' homes before I lose my mind and- and- (Marie is frustrated.)

Marie: I don't want to say anything that could hurt her! But with all the noise, I can't- I can't, ugh. Just get her out of here. (Kiku's pretty startled, but also sad.)

Callie: You heard the other agents. They can't handle all this right now, either. You've just got to keep trying. How about I take Kiku out for a little while?

Marie: Yes... please. (They talk.)

Callie: Okay, Kiku, we- oh, great. Where'd she go now? (Callie looks back, but Kiku is no longer there. The door to the penthouse is closed, but no one is there.)

(A moment later, Kiku arrives in Octo Canyon. No one is there besides Octavio.)

Kiku: *Sniffle* *sob* *sob*

Octavio:? (He looks up.)

(He spots her.)

Octavio: Well, what are you doing here? No one's here but me.

Kiku:! (Kiku appears surprised.)

Kiku: Aee- I made Momrie, uh, Muh-rie, mad. (She sits down.)

Octavio: Ah. So you decided to run off and come here, huh?

Kiku: Du-dunno. (They talk.)

Kiku: Thought someone was here. 'N Callie say y-y-you're not a good guy. I shoodn't t-talk wif you. (She's a bit sheepish.)

Octavio: Kiku, look at me. (Kiku turns.)

Octavio: Those agents, they're only telling you the stuff they want you to know. They're not telling you everything that they should.

Kiku: Wha?

Octavio: They aren't. I'm guessing they didn't tell you that you're part of my kind.

Kiku: No. (They talk.)

Octavio: Here, look. (He shifts into his humanoid form and puts his hand up against the glass.)

(Kiku starts to raise her hand in curiosity.)

(She puts her hand against the glass, up against Octavio's hand. Her hand is small compared to his.)

Octavio: See? We may look a bit different, but half of what makes you, you, comes from me. You've got round ears like me, not pointy ears like the inklings. And you don't have a line between your eyes like inklings do. Only octolings look like this.

Kiku: Oh! (She's surprised.)

Octavio: Look, kid, I know that you're still trying to get used to things, but if you want, I can show you why you were created. And I can show you the person who created you... your real mother.

Kiku: My... real muh-ther?

Octavio: Yes! She's watched over you for a long time, and I'll bet she really regretted having to leave you. She'd want to meet you. Do you want to meet her? (They talk.)

Kiku: Ye! Where's she? Where's she?

Octavio: Oh well, I guess you wouldn't know. I should've remembered, you don't know enough to know the place. But I can show you where she is. All you've got to do is break down this glass. (Kiku gets excited.)

Kiku: Uhmmm... (She's unsure for a moment.)

Kiku: Okie! (She grabs a spare roller from a collection of weapons.)

Octavio: What the-?! (He looks alarmed as she raises the weapon.)

Sound effect: CRASH!

Octavio:! (Kiku swings the weapon, shattering the top of the glass.)

Octavio: Well, that's one way to do it.

Marina: KIKU!!! (Kiku turns.)

Marina: STOP!

Pearl: Yo, Kiku! What do you think you're DOING? (The two run towards Kiku and Octavio, readying their weapons.)

Kiku: He'll show my REAL mom! Right? (She faces away from Octavio, who grabs a weapon.)

Pearl: Kiku, look out! (Pearl yells.)

Kiku: Huh? (She turns.)

Kiku: YIPE! (She runs fearfully at just the right moment. Octavio swings his weapon down.)

Marina: Leave Kiku alone! (She opens her weapon and fires.)

Octavio: Marina, you're gonna have to do better than this. (He skillfully dodges.)

Octavio: And didn't you hear? Kiku and her brother belong to me. Let me take them, and I'll get out of your way.

Marina: Rrrgg... (Octavio grabs onto Marina's weapon and closes it.)

Sound effect: FLOOMP!

Octavio:? (Marina opens her weapon back up in Octavio's face.)

(Marina notices Kiku still running away.)

Marina: Pearl, go after Kiku! She's heading right into the canyon!

Pearl: What? But I'll never catch up! And you-

Marina: Go! I'll handle this! (Marina turns and yells at Pearl.)

Pearl: Okay, okay, fine. Kiku! Come back! (Pearl runs off.)

Pearl: Kiku, come on! (She chases Kiku.)

Pearl: Kiku, seriously girl, slow down. My legs are the size of jellyfish legs, and you're fast!

Kiku: No!

Pearl: I'm not gonna hurt you!

Kiku: HE awmos' hurt me! (Pearl struggles to catch up.)

Pearl: Well, *huff* *huff* I'm not! Don't worry, kid. We told you, that creep isn't a nice guy! But we can protect you! (Pearl starts to get tired.)

Sound effect: WHAM!

Kiku: You can? (Pearl runs straight into Kiku, who stops abruptly. Kiku seems unfazed.)

Pearl: Guh, yeah. Just stop listening to the guys we tell you are bad. Now let's go, this place isn't the safest place to hang out. (She recovers a bit from running into Kiku.)

Kiku: Okie!

Pearl: Really? Just like that? Okay, whatever. (Kiku walks back. Pearl's a bit confused with the kid, but she shrugs.)

Marina: Hey! (Shot of the two as they jump, startled.)

Marina: Octavio, *huff* *huff*, he got, *huff* *huff*, away. I couldn't stop- *huff*- him. (Marina runs up, covered in ink, breathless.)

Pearl: Well, do you know where he went?

Marina: No, but I have a good guess. If he was wanting the twins and couldn't catch Kiku, then that means- (Marina stops.)

(They both glance at Kiku.)

Pearl and Marina: He's after Kiyoshi! (They both shout.)
