Walking over to the balcony, she looked out at the city that she had come to call home over the last year. Vale was a beautiful kingdom, located between the shadow of a massive mountain range and the sparkling ocean. Looking up, she could see the shattered moon hanging in the sky, its light reflecting off the water and casting a soft glow over the city.

The streets were empty at this time of night, but she could see the lights of homes and businesses still lit up, a sign of the life and bustle that continued even in the hours after dark. It was a peaceful scene, one that was in stark contrast to the violence and destruction that was all too common in this world.

She let out a soft sigh, her eyes closing as she enjoyed the moment of quiet. It was moments like these that she cherished, when she could simply forget all her troubles and appreciate the beauty around her.

"-ile the cause of this sudden surge in Grimm activity is unknown, many suspect that it has something to do with the recent re-appearance of two Ancient Grimm. These Ancients, which have now been identified as Tyrant and Wulfgar, were responsible for some of the worst atrocities in history, including the massacre of the coastal city of Azura. Vale's council has put out a call for anyone willing and able to help deal with the Grimm to come forward, and many have answered. Hunters and huntresses from all over the continent have been converging on the kingdom in an effort to st-"

Heading back inside, she silently makes her way to the bathroom.

The bathtub is already full of steaming hot water, the scent of lavender and jasmine filling her senses. Reaching down, she begins to undress, her hands deftly undoing the buttons of her shirt. She slides the garment off her shoulders and let it fall to the floor, revealing her smooth, porcelain skin.

Her fingers brushed against the stigmata on her chest, one bearing a resemblance to the mark of both the Kaslana and the Schariac. It serves as a proof of her bloodline, a constant reminder of the power that she now wields; one she inherits along with the memories of those who once wielded the same power.

Shedding the rest of her clothing, she steps into the bathtub and sinks down into the welcoming warmth of the water. Leaning her head back, she closes her eyes and lets out a soft sigh of relief, the muscles in her body relaxing as she lets the heat soothe the tension away.

Her gaze eventually drift over to the mirror on the opposite wall. Looking at her reflection, she sees a young woman with long white hair cascading down her back like a waterfall. Her bright blue eyes, once filled with life and passion, now seemed to be shrouded in a perpetual sadness that made her seem older than her years. The once playful smile that never fail to grace her face could no longer be seen. In its place was another smile, one that spoke of the pain and hardship she had endured.

'... fight for all that is beautiful in the world, is it?'

She would have force a smile onto her face, one perfectly crafted from centuries worth of practice, but at least for a brief moment, she allows herself to relax. To simply let go and forget about everything that was happening in the world outside.

-----

Her march through the streets of Vale was a solitary one. The people around her bustled about with their own lives, completely oblivious to the world around them. Such was the way of things in the kingdom. She, however, could not help but notice the harshness of reality. The stains of grime on the buildings. The trash lining the streets. The hungry and homeless begging for scraps.

It seems that even Vale, lauded as the most peaceful and prosperous kingdom in Remnant, was not immune to the darkness that haunted the world. Everyone too caught up in their own lives to care, all too happy to pretend that everything was alright. Not that she could blame them. It was far easier to bury one's head in the sand than to confront the harshness of reality.

Her musing were interrupted as she notice the first sign of winter. A light flurry that turn the ground and rooftops white. She momentarily stop in her tracks and watch as the snow continued to fall, gently blanketing the kingdom in a layer of pristine white. It was a beautiful sight, one that brought a sense of peace and tranquility. A stark contrast to the harshness that she had seen only moments ago.

Sadly, she knew that such beauty was but a fleeting thing. That it would be gone before long, replaced by the sterility of winter. It was a reminder of the transience of life, how everything eventually fades away into nothingness. Yet even as she thought about this, she couldn't help but be drawn in by the beauty of snowfall. How it seemed to cling to everything like a blanket of hope, a fragile reminder that things could still be good.

It took her a few minutes, but she eventually managed to get her mind back on track and continued on her way, the snowfall continues to follow her like a silent observer.

-----

She eventually arrived at the airport; the snowfall having ceased some time ago. The crowd around her was a mixture of people from all walks of life, all eager to help in the defense of the Kingdom of Vale, whether out of a sense of duty or because they saw it as an opportunity to make a name for themselves.

She could see the students from Beacon Academy, clad in their personal gear, bags packed with their belongings as they prepare to head off to battle. She also saw the teachers and professors, their faces set in grim resolve as they joined their students, burdened with the responsibility of keeping their charges safe. And then there were the professional hunters and huntresses, some eager for the chance to prove their worth, others simply looking for a quick payday.

She had seen enough of the Grimm and knew all too well the devastation that these creatures could cause. The bloodied corpses of innocent civilians, left to rot in the streets. The shattered remains of families and homes, left in ruin. The pain and suffering that they caused, the grief and loss that came in their wake.

The Ancients, however, were something else entirely. They were legends, creatures of myth and terror said to be able to level an entire city with ease. A being of pure destruction that even their fellow Grimm seemed to fear.

And now they were back.

These people, as skilled as they were, are going to be hard pressed to deal with the Ancients. Though they numbered a few hundreds, defeating the two Ancients would be nothing short of a miracle. They would have a better chance stalling for time until the reinforcements from the other kingdoms arrived, but even then, their chance of succeeding was slim at best. And that is not to mention that even if they do manage to succeed, the loss of life would be staggering.

She couldn't help but wonder how many of them would come back. If any of them would come back at all...

Nevertheless, she has sworn an oath, and she will not yield. It matters little even if the odds were against them, she knows that she have to fight. To do anything less would be to betray everything she stands for.

'Thou shalt constitute thyself as a shield for the weak and innocent'

She steps forward, her face set in grim determination, ready to take on the challenge ahead.

For the innocent lives hanging in the balance. For the families who had been torn apart. For the kingdom that she has come to call home. For the world that she wants to see flourish. And for the hope that still remained in each of their heart.

She will not fail...

Author's Note: So, yeah... been thinking of writing this crossover for a while. Always been fascinated with both series. Anyway, English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance for any mistake I make. And not to mention that this is my first time writing, so I know that it's not going to be perfect. Would appreciate it if you could take your time and give a review. Just... please be gentle... Oh, on that note, would it be better if I put some image?
