"Thanks for dropping me off."

"Of course, sweetheart," he murmured, leaning over the console and kissing me fiercely. I gripped his suit jacket deepening the kiss while letting out a soft moan when his thumb brushed against my hardened nipples poking out of the white blouse I wore.

"You're so perfect," he mumbled against my lips before pulling away. "But I don't want to make you late."

"How about we get lunch today?"

"I'd love that," he smiled.

"Great," I pecked him on the cheek quickly, then opened the door. "See you then."

Before entering Phoenix Tech, I did my best to look presentable and not like I was just about to get fucked by smoothing my wild curls down and straightening out my pencil skirt and top. But from the look Nathaniel gave me when I entered the lobby and saw him leaning against the receptionist's desk, it was apparent I did a terrible fucking job and still looked as flushed as I felt. His dark eyes roamed my body, taking in my slightly disheveled hair and swollen lips. When his gaze dropped down to my erect nipples, his nostrils flared, eyes hooded with lust.

"Good morning," I chirped, walking up to him, keeping my voice even and professional.

"I'm sure it has been," he muttered, pushing off the desk and leading the way to the elevator.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, fighting a smile, knowing damn well what it meant, but it wasn't often I was able to ruffle his feather on my terms, and for some reason, I was feeling bold today.

His jaw ticked as his eyes dropped down to my softening nipples and back up to my face while the elevator closed. "You know what it means."

"I'm not sure I do," I smiled coyly, feigning ignorance, but my facade fell the moment Nathaniel took two strides across the elevator to stand directly in front of me, planting both hands on either side of the handrail behind me. My calm breathing suddenly turned ragged.

"My restraint is very limited, Anastazi," he murmured huskily, brushing his lips against my ear. "And I'm trying my best to give you and your new relationship the respect it deserves, so don't test me unless you're prepared for the consequences."

My knees wobbled uncontrollably when he dipped his head in the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply, letting out a low, "Fuck."

The elevator chimed on the floor our meeting with the amputee team was taking place and when the doors were sliding open, he backed away, slowly devouring me with his eyes. He smirked when he looked down at my shirt and when I followed his gaze and found my nipples hard again, I quickly crossed my arms against my chest, which only made him chuckle as he exited the elevator. I mentally slapped myself for falling into another one of his traps, foolishly thinking I'd actually have the upper hand. This rocky thing between us was too unstable to play childish games when in reality, I should've been keeping my head down, maintaining a professional relationship with him while focusing on my relationship with Ezra. I avoided eye contact with Nathaniel the entire time during the meeting as I presented everything to the team, focusing and engaging in conversation with everyone else but him. And while they were packing up when the meeting was over a couple of hours later, I was the first to say goodbye and leave.

"C'mon," I mumbled to myself, willing the elevator to come faster before I was trapped inside of it with the devil himself, but when had luck ever been on my side?

"You're avoiding me," his voice came from behind the exact moment the stupid doors slid open.

"I'm having lunch with Ezra, and I don't want to be late," I told him the half-truth, walking inside the machine, hoping it would shut in his face.
