The Engineer

Lauren was a lonely engineer, she had no children, no family, no friends, no lover, it was the same day in and day out, the king would normally request her presence for something that he needed fixed or repaired, but the frequentice of him calling her happened less and less and less.

Which increased her sadness. Lauren had waited and waited time again and again, but he never seemed to mail her after that, she had built everything she ever wanted in life, but it was never enough, time and time, had she waited for something, anything to help her isolation. That was until one day, an extravagant idea came into Laurens mind, Lauren had run straight to her drawing board from where her idea came from.

finally she had the solution to solve her sorrow, she had all the parts and the tools she needed, so she had gotten to work, it took Lauren a year to finish building her experiment, finally something, it was all coming together endless nights working on this project, finally after this hard sleepless night, it was finished. All though Lauren couldn't find love as love didn't really favor her, love was what she could build, no matter what she did everyone she had tried to love always vanished from her life, but what she could have was an automatic love, she had finally built the love of her life. Back when Lauren was growing up she lived on the streets for most of her life, the cold streets of London were dark and eerie. The only thing she really had that was really special to her was a bronze gear, although it was random for a child to have, she never had any friends nor stuffies, a heartwarming detail on the gear, on the gear was a small poem was written on it that stuck with her for twenty four years

"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind"

The last part Lauren's automaton needed was a gear in the middle. The same gear she held and kept sacred four twenty four years, she put the gear in the middle of the chest plates and pushed in the bronze gear turning it inside the chestplate with her wrench, Lauren walked over to the control panel, she flipped the switch on her control panel shooting electric energy to power her robotic lover, she decided to name her lover after the man she saw in her dreams and in the real world, the one that caused her depression, under the robots feet lied a small carving in the floor, the name Henry (Highly electrified navigating Robotic Yaw) in a copper color in ancient font engraved underneath the machines feet. The power shot into the robot, Lauren waited constantly wrapping her hands around each other she watched as Henry opened his eyes, Henry then stumbled a bit, "h-henry'' Lauren said walking towards him, her brown go-go boots tapping as she moved. "Who might you be love?" he questioned "i-im Lauren Williams y-you're lover" she said, she watched his face start from confused and worried to warm and joyful, he slowly walked over to her with a warm smile and wrapped his arms around her. This is what Lauren had waited twenty five years for, just to be loved by someone. But that happy feeling didn't last long she felt as though something or someone was watching them, "I love you Henry'' she said those words made the unusual feeling vanish, if this is what love felt like she never wanted it to end, Henry stopped for a moment than spoke, "and I, I love yo-"

his words were cut short when Henry started to shake and malfunction, Lauren quickly lifted her head up as she smelt burning. She looked up and saw that Henry was falling apart "No No No No" she yelled. Electrical sparks shot out, wires snapped, Lauren quickly ran back to her drawing board and blueprints, in fright, she looked over everything, her studies, her information, nothing was out of the ordinary, everything seemed to be in place. But what was the problem, Lauren was then blinded by a small explosion, as Henry fell apart. Lauren was too stunned to speak she was frozen,
She felt a dark cold painful energy behind her
"Awe, why so down" she heard Henry the monster of the shadows chuckle
"Why did you do this'' she cried in frustration her face slight red, holding her heart "I could never be happy without you ruining it" she said still standing there feeling the monster behind her suck the joy out of her "years ago you're grandfather signed a deal that's states that I can have the happiness of his first grandchild, to keep his wife alive, you're grandmother, yet you've never met any of them,

i've been feeding off of your happiness for twenty-nine years Lauren'' the monster growled laughing, the monster than disappeared into the shadow realm, soon to be back when lauren found happiness again to kill the one she may call the love of her life. Lauren ran to her robotic lover's shriveled body falling on her knees, Lauren screamed out tears rushing down her face, twenty nine miserable years, who knows how many more years Lauren again would spend alone. Only thing she could wish for was that the monster may get bored and finish her off now. She had no one left, no one left to love her, tell her she was important and she meant something.
