Tinker toys - tinker girls, and tinker boys
Do wander 'round the toybox
And twist and rip their tinker springs
Their eyes and legs and other things
Leaving traces in the toybox
They tinker wish of better parts
They tinker wish that they were smart
They twist and tear their tinker springs
And therefore are condemned
The toybox is no place to play
For tinker toys, as everyday
They tinker toil, tinker plea
For some unholy remedy
For someone kind to set them free
For some enchanted toybox key
The tinker toys aren't very smart
The tinker toys have missing parts
The tinker toys have broken hearts
And no hope in the toybox
"I'll break your little tinker heart to fix my family's missing parts."
"I'll jam a knife into your spring so God will stop his tinkering."
"I'll steal your pretty tinker wheel and maybe I will start to heal."
But each and every tinker toy - the tinker girls, and tinker boys
Are found out-tinkered on the ground
Each tinker piece beyond repair
Their tinker souls without a prayer
The toybox people gather 'round
And all they do is judge and stare
