Chapter 40: Fourth Shinobi War

"I'm Ami, this is Neji. I look forward to working with you." I say politely, introducing my brother as well.

Our company gets called to move out before any more conversation can continue. The first division's first half is leaving out with Gaara's fourth division ahead of us, followed by the third and fifth division, then ours, and behind us is the second half of the first division. Once we get closer to our assigned battle sights, the intelligence squad sets up communications and the medical squads stay back to set up camp in the rear of our battlement. I spent the whole run marking as many members of our division as possible with my Shinigami mark, just in case.

"Sensors!" Kitsuchi calls us out once we reach our assigned destination. "Locate the enemies!"

Neji activates his Byakugan from where we are at the front of the army formation. "Below, 100 meters and 20 degrees southwest!" He calls out. Kitsuchi and Kurotsuchi do a combined earth style attack, and the White Zetsu come spewing out of the ground like lava. I summon my new scythe, and take off for a fight.

"Stay back!" I call out to my nearby allies, then jump straight into the center of the enemies.

As I'm getting close to the ground, I begin to spin with my wind scythe, and destroy over a hundred Zetsu in one hit. I hear shocked reactions from both the enemies and the allies, but I don't stop. I jump up and do it again, taking out almost as many on the second hit. I make sure not to stay in one place for too long since Zetsu can sprout up out of the ground easily, so my safest best is staying air born, no matter how tiring that is.

I eventually have to lessen how much chakra I put into the attacks, both to conserve my energy and because my allies are too close for the large scale attacks now. I switch to channeling just enough to keep my scythe extra sharp, and kill all the Zetsu I can within reach.

When I start to get too overwhelmed and surrounded by the never ending enemies, I make my way back to Neji, who is fighting back to back with Hinata. I come just in time to see one coming up behind Neji that he doesn't have time to block, and I do and use Air Wall Palm to get it away from my brother.

"Thanks." Neji breathes out tiredly. We've been fighting for almost two hours solid now, so we are all getting a little tired, but neither us nor Hinata have sustained any serious injuries, only mild scrapes from Zetsu's who got through our attacks or just flying debris from any of the other surrounding attacks.

"Don't mention it." I smirk at him. "How's about we show these guys why they should fear the Genius Hyuga Twins?" I say proudly to him, putting my scythe on my back as a hoard of about 300 Zetsu's just crawled out of the ground and is heading towards us.

"Let's. Lady Hinata, please stand back." Neji calls out to her, and she notices what we are about to do and steps back, taking out a few Zetsu who were about to attack us from behind.

"I'll watch your backs, you two." She says confidently, and we both smile at her.

"Twin Vacuum Wall!" Neji and I call out, doing a massive Gentle Fist mid-range attack that sent a loud and painful attack towards the incoming Zetsu's. It mowed them all down and blew them backwards, then he and I jumped to either side of the pile of Zetsu we made and did our Rotations, coming to meet in the center as we ground through the pile of enemies.

"I hate to say," Karui pants out to us as she was nearby and just watched the joint attack. "You guys are impressive." She compliments, but there's a Zetsu coming out of the ground behind her she doesn't see. I transport to my mark on her back and stab the Zetsu with a kunai, saving her from injury. "Holy shit that was fast! Only the Raikage is that fast." She breathes out in disbelief.

"War is no time for gawking, keep focused." Neji calls out to her. She nods, and goes back out to fight again.

Soon after, Kiba, Shino, and Shirotsu all join our fight along with a few others from the fifth division. It doesn't take us long from there, and we finish off a majority of the Zetsu's. Intel informs us we had one of the largest group of White Zetsu to defeat, but no reanimations. First division had a lot as well, and they have the strongest reanimations. Half our squad gets sent to aid the first division which is still battling, while the other half is sent to help the third after we finish off the remaining Zetsu.

All of my friends and I are sent to head towards the third division, but are given orders to rest for the night to regain our strength so we are useful to help. The wounded are sent to the medics, and the sensory types are tasked to keep a lookout. Neji, Hinata and I are the only Hyuga's in the immediate group, so we trade off every hour on keeping lookout, that way none of us are too tired later. Shino and Shirotsu have their bugs in the surrounding area as well, keeping an eye on enemy movements.

We have the codewords implemented, and we are able to keep track of any imposters. Thus far, our battalion unit hasn't had any, but we received word from HQ that some have been spotted. For the whole night, we all sat at a distance to one another. When it was my turn to watch, I used my eyes and spotted two Zetsu trying to get in, looking like Sand shinobi who were coming back from patrol, and they even used the correct codewords. These two faces I clearly remember marking, yet these two guys didn't have my mark on them. I attacked and killed them both, and watched as they turned into Zetsu's while my allies thought I had gone mad.

"I marked nearly everyone in this battalion unit with my Shinigami chakra mark. These two didn't have the mark, they were imposters." I calm down those around me, who still thought I might attack them. "Everyone else here currently is clear, I can see my marks on all of you."

"When did you mark us?" A Stone shinobi asks me.

"As we departed the Cloud village. I ran amongst most of you, it only takes a light tap and I can plant my mark at minimal chakra usage. It is for my Flying Death God jutsu, you may know it as the technique of the Second and Fourth Hokage." I inform them all.

"You mean the Flying Thunder God jutsu?! I didn't realize anyone else knew that jutsu anymore." Karui says in shock. "Lord Raikage fought many times against the Fourth Hokage, and the Fourth was the only one who could beat the Raikage's speed and earn his respect."

"Similar technique, though mine is not nearly as proficient as the Fourth's. I can't transport to a moving object, my targets must be still, like you were earlier in the battle. I usually only mark trees or buildings, transporting to people is unsafe for me, so I only use it in emergencies." I reply to her seriously. I did hurt myself a couple times trying to transport to moving objects, so I try to avoid it when I can.

"And you used it on me..." She says in surprise. "Why? Why take the risk?"

"Because you're an ally, fighting by my side." I tell her plainly, and she grows quiet and nods in thanks. We go back to keeping our positions after that, though everyone's tension dropped a bit and I could see a few were able to relax and recover.

"Ami! Neji!" I hear a familiar voice shouting out as the sun is rising up.

"Naruto, finally felt like joining the fun?" I say in greeting to the glowing blonde boy as he ran up to us.

"Yeah, had to master this before I could join. Everyone here is clear, you guys are good to go." He tells us, and I smirk.

"I know, I have my ways of sensing fakes too. Get going though, not every unit is lucky enough to have me with them." I say arrogantly and jokingly, and he laughs and grins, then takes off after greeting Hinata as well.

"He didn't even see me." Shino says sadly because he was ignored yet again, watching as Naruto ran off.

"Oh, I almost forgot, hi Shino!" Naruto yells back to us, and I giggle at my friend who looks happy at being remembered, even if he was clearly forgotten at first.
