Hi guys! So this is my first story that I'm writing. I'm so excited. I have so many plans for this book. I hope you like it. :) the picture u have for the chapter is what I picture Brooklyn to look like.

"Brooklyn, wake up! You need to get to school! Education is key!"
I woke up to the sound of my mother shouting from the the other side of the door and feeling very groggy. I was tossing and turning all night long unable to find a comfortable position. I slept maybe 4 hours, but it was not consistent.
I've been under a lot of stress lately. I'm almost 18 in a few months so I will have to start finding colleges. My parents want me to go to law school and be a lawyer like them, but I haven't found the courage to tell them I don't want to be like them. I want to be a writer and let my imagination run free. They would never allow me to do that though. They were very strict. As a matter of fact, the whole town was like that. I felt that I didn't fit in most of the time.
I was different from the rest of the 17 year olds I went to school with. While everyone had their future planned and were studying for their exams, I was always reading and daydreaming. Most of the time I would slip away into my own mind in the middle of a boring lecture my teacher would be giving.
Considering my timer on my forearm was getting lower and lower, my mind was wild with ideas of who my soulmate was and what they were like. Since I read a lot, I have such a crazy imagination. I loved fiction books about fae creatures and romance novels. I always dreamed of being swooped off my feet and taken away by my Prince Charming. Sadly, that would never happen and I knew that only happened in fairytales.
I got out of bed stretching my arms over my head and yawning. Today were exams and I was super nervous. I am pretty smart and have been able to keep my grades at an A level through the year, but lately I have been out of it. I'm afraid of failing the exams and having to explain to my parents why I've been so distracted. Telling them abut my dream of being a writer would get me sent to a doctor.
You would think that a parent should be supportive of their child, but that wasn't the case.
I tiredly stumbled to my bathroom that was attached to my bedroom. I did my business and washed my hands. I opened my medicine cabinet and pulled out my face wash. Turning on the warm water, I lathered the soap and massaged it into my skin. Rinsing it off woke me up more because of the sudden splash of water in my face. I then grabbed my brush and pulled it through my hair letting it fall in its natural long brown waves.
I grabbed a towel from my cabinet and patted my face dry while walking back into my bedroom and over to my walk-in closet. I quickly grabbed a white button up shirt, a dark blue cardigan and a black skirt. I paired this outfit with simple black converse.
I walked back to my bathroom to quickly do my makeup. I don't like to wear a lot. Just simple concealer, foundation, and some mascara are all I need. I then grabbed a hair tie and tossed my hair into a messy bun and stuck a bow behind it.
On my nightstand beside my bed, I grabbed my glasses and my school bag before heading downstairs.
My mom was in the kitchen making eggs and toast for breakfast before she would soon be heading off the the office.
"Good morning, mum." I said walking up the fridge to grab some juice.
"Good morning, Brooke. How did you sleep last night?" She asked not taking her eyes off the pan.
"Fine." I lied, not wanting her to ask why I was awake most of the night.
I grabbed an apple out of the fruit basket before kissing my mum on the cheek and heading out of our 2 story house and walking to school.
I had my drivers license, but I preferred walking since school was only a few blocks away and the weather was nice.
"BROOKE!!" I heard the familiar voice of my best friend as I passed her house.
"Hi Pamela." I said as she ran out of her house and towards me.
We always walked to school together. We had been friends since year 3. She was the only person that really got me. We did everything together and my parents trusted her since our parents worked together.
"You look cute today!" She said gesturing towards my clothes and causing me to smile at her.
"So do you, Pam." I replied after noticing her loose flowing blouse and black skinny jeans with her low boots.
Pamela had long golden blond hair that sat in natural waves down her shoulders. She was beautiful. She had already found her soulmate. His name was Luke Hemmings. He was tall with short blond hair that he always styled into a quiff. He was funny and had his life all planned out. Pam and Luke were perfect for each other. I could never imagine them with anybody else but with each other.
On our way to school, Pamela and I talked about anything and everything. We tried to keep the topic off of the exams so we wouldn't get nervous.
When we walked onto campus, Luke was there waiting with some of our other friends, Calum and Caroline. Cal and Caroline were soulmates, too. They were so cute together.
As we approached them, Luke turned and saw us and immediately started running towards Pamela. Their relationship was close. He wrapped his arms around her waist and picked her up effortlessly, swinging her around before pecking her quickly in the cheek.
I walked over to where Cal and Caroline had their fingers intertwined. We all looked back to see Pam and Luke grinning wildly at each other. You could tell they loved each other.
Th first bell wrung over the campus telling us to head to class. My first period was with Caroline so she said her goodbyes to Cal and we headed off to calculus.
