The dark skies poured and the only source of light was the dull brightness of the streetlights. The wind howled and swept through the trees, causing some leaves to blow off their branches.

Many people were concealed in the warmth of their homes, but not Victoria. In fact, she was too far from home.

Her shoes made contact with the tar road, causing the splatters of water to hit her bare scrapped legs. One of the scraps she had on her knee was so large that it bled heavily, mixing with the rainwater. No amount of pain could make her stop running.

She had to get to safety.

The familiar neighbourhood brought her some relief, but she felt even more relieved when she saw the grey and white house. However, within that feeling was a hint of anxiety when she reminded herself who it belonged to. A knot had formed in her throat and she gulped hard, preparing herself.

She wasn't sure what his reaction would be, but it was worth the try.

She looked over her shoulder and even though no one was there, it didn't mean she was in the clear. The little ounce of hope in her had convinced her to run for his door and instantly, her drenched fists made contact with the Oakwood.

"Help, Please!" she whisper-yelled, frantically banging on the door.

She heard movement in the house and that made her bang on the door even more. Her knuckles stung, hitting against the hardwood.

"Please," she begged.

The croak in her voice made the man on the other side of the door concerned. He hadn't heard her first plea for help, so he remained alert when he heard the banging on his door. Hearing the mystery woman made him proceed to unlock the door and open it.

He was caught off guard when the woman in a hoodie, pushed him back inside and quickly locked the door behind them. He couldn't make out who the woman was and after her actions, he started questioning if he had made a mistake.

He became concerned if he had just given an intruder a way into his home.

The woman panted, trying to catch her breath after all the running she had just done. He quickly pushed her into the wall and restrained her, before lifting the hoodie from her face.

His actions revealed the face of Victoria - the woman who was once the love of his life.
