Searching For Home

I yearn for it
A place my heart belongs.
Longing for it
I searched the ends of earth.
Mapping and navigating
Trying to discover the safe
Place I can just be.

I prayed for it
The sanctuary that could save my lost soul.
Met many and joined packs
Trying to belong.
Hoping I wasn't a lone
In winter's night.
They came by hundreds
And left by thousands.
Till I stood in the cold
Night's air alone.

I am still fighting for it
A place I can call home.
I have yet to find it.
Every road is blocked with
Every path closed.
But I hang on a tearing thread.
It's not over till it's over.
I will find someone of my own,
Survive a volcano if I have to.
Even though I keep falling
In an endless pit of never,
I will get there slowly
But surely,
Tears and all.
I will make my way home.
