Izuku doesn't know how long he's been staring at his phone, all he knows is that Ena and Akasuki are staring at him from either side and his mother is trying to pretend that she isn't doing the same thing. He looks up from his phone, staring at the wall behind his mother's head as his hands shake subtly. "Are you sure this is the best way to do this? It feels wrong, somehow," he murmurs. Ena takes his phone from his hand, "Hey, give that back!" he stammers trying to reach for it.
Ena holds it far from him, out of his reach. "Calm down, I'm not going to do anything. But, let's walk you through this. Hm?" He nods. "Right, so... You do want to be with Katsu at this point in time, don't you?"
"Well, yeah. It's just that after being with Masashi for so long, I feel like I owe him more than a text when it comes to breaking up," Izuku answers softly.
"No. You don't. You don't owe that guy anything. And, I don't mean this next part to come off as insensitive, but the bastard has shown you time and again that he doesn't even consider you or how you feel . Look, Iz. You are making the right decision here. Take it from me, Katsu would do anything he could, he'd do the impossible to make you happy. You deserve someone who would do that for you, and Masashi is not that person. You know it as well as we do. You also know that if you call or wait to do it in person he'll try to talk you into not leaving him. And that isn't something you can afford to let happen, because he will succeed and we'll be right back where we started. Do this, if not for yourself then for us, or Katsu. Tell yourself what you have to in order to send that text," Ena lectures.
Izuku sighs deeply and nods. "Fine. Just hit send and that will be the end of it."
Ena smiles softly, and hits send before handing Izuku his phone again. "You'll be happier in the long run, I know it."
"I do, too," Izuku answers, whispering. "So are we going to finish moving my stuff out of the house today or are we just going to sit here and wait around for this to play out?" He groans feeling his phone buzz in his hands. He looks down to see Masashi calling and he frowns, "Looks like I spoke too soon."
"Decline it," Akasuki interrupts. "Don't answer. If he wants to do this, he has to do it in person when it's already too late or over text where he can't make you listen to how 'upset' he supposedly is."
He declines the call as he's told and is immediately met with a text. Pick up the phone. Izuku is now faced with the dread he'd been trying to avoid, the dread that he knew would eventually catch up with him. The phone starts buzzing again, and this time his phone is snatched away by Ena again and immediately handed off to Inko. "He's not talking to Izuku. And he won't listen to me or Su. You've got this Momma Mido."
Inko gulps and shakily moves the phone to her ear. Before she can even speak, Masashi can be heard shouting loudly over the phone causing Izuku to flinch. He can see a cold glare settle over his mother's eyes as her mouth settles into a frown. "You need to lower your voice. Izuku won't be answering the phone," she starts. "And I can assure you that screaming about it wouldn't help your case if he were to answer the phone. What my son said is final." She listens carefully as Masashi speaks again, almost definitely trying to plead his case. Inko's face becomes somewhat unreadable though there are still signs of unease and maybe a bit of remorse, there's more to it than that. "Look, it's very nice that you're trying to apologize and that you want to try and make things better, but Izuku is done. My son deserves more than a person who only does their best after it's already too late. If you want to talk things over with Izuku you can do it in person whenever you come back, but today what's done is done. Now, if you'll excuse me, we have plans today." With that Inko hangs up the phone and sighs. "Well, he certainly sounds upset. But, it's okay. As I said, what's done is done. And what's been done is the right thing. Now, let's go get your things."
