Kevin: An alternate reality.
He says while Godzilla is standing there trying to comprehend the sentence.
Godzilla: Well I guess that could explain your situation. Why do you look like that.
Kevin: I can't exactly see myself properly.
Godzilla: Follow me.
At the lake
Kevin looks at his reflection in the lake. He expected to see the same body he died, instead he found a different body.

Godzilla: What's new?
Kevin: This body.
Godzilla: Did you have another body?
Kevin: Yeah, it was more blocky and I could actually look down.
Without realizing his body turned into metallic goo that then shifted from his current body into the one he died in.

Godzilla: Hey. Earth to Kevin. Are you awake.
Kevin: Hmm, oh yeah. Yeah this is the body I was in before here, but I should probably stay as I was before.
