When we finished talking about business, I see a warm smile growing on Lily's face, but she also looks exhausted. It strikes me that I'm glad she is working half-days at first.
"I want you to all know how proud of you I am for taking ownership of your work and helping to keep the ship sailing while I was away. You've helped Ha-Kun and I in so many ways. You are among the most talented and wonderful people I've ever known."
We all get a little misty-eyed from Lily's words, but it feels good to be whole again. When we conclude our meeting, Lily asks me to stay behind.
"I just wanted to see how you are doing," Lily asks. "I was worried that shouldering the extra responsibilities would flare up your anxiety, but I feel like you have been handling things extremely well! I have been so impressed!"
"You know, at first, I had attacks every day after you were hurt, but I kept pushing through, and Tae was always there with a shoulder if I needed one or to make sure I was keeping my therapy appointments. You really have given me the best support system I could ever ask for," I smile, and Lily pats my hand.
"I'm so glad to hear this. I also want to thank you for being there that day. Namjoon told me when I was in the hospital that you tried to save me. I will be forever grateful that even in the chaos, your first instinct was to try and cover my wound," Lily gets choked up for a moment but clears her throat, "it is quite something knowing you would do that for me..."
I lean in and give Lily a gentle hug. "Always," I reply.
As we walk towards the conference room door, Lily pauses for a moment. "I'm embarrassed to ask for your assistance outside of work matters, but do you think you could run a few errands for me later this afternoon? I'd like to have a driver pick you up around three. They will drive you to a few destinations to pick some things up for me. The person that has been helping me with my personal needs is unexpectedly unavailable."
"Of course, Lily, anything you need."
"Thanks so much!" she says and then slowly makes her way to her studio for a few hours.
💜
That afternoon a driver showed up, and we headed out with a list of errands Lily needed to be completed. As we head to our first destination, I can't help but think about how happy I feel today having Joon back in my life and Lily back at work. Ha-Kun is my sensitive leader. Tae has become my rock-solid best friend. JK is the relative I never saw coming, and Jae has become like a sister to me. Hobi is my creative muse and confidant. Jimin is my angel protector. Hana is my sweet supporter, Jin is my voice of reason and my reminder to keep a sense of humor, and Yoongi is the big brother who keeps an eye on my best interests.
It's quite a journey we've been on together. As we pull up to our destination, I'm confused when the driver opens the door, and I recognize we are next to the sculpture garden entrance at the Seoul Remix Museum.
A sign is at the entrance reads, "Closed for Private Function," and a man in a suit and an earpiece approaches me. "Miss Lee, right this way, please."
My jaw is hanging open in complete confusion. I don't even have the words to ask questions as my brain races in thousands of different directions.
The man leads me to the very spot where I first met Namjoon, and there is Joon, standing in front of the statue, looking at me with a broad smile. He's casual in a pair of jeans and an olive green v-neck, his hair fluffy and adorable.
A small round table with two chairs sits in front of the statue with a crisp white table cloth. Two glasses of wine are poured, and two place settings. A man appears with two covered plates of food and places them at the table that faces that familiar bronze sculpture.
"Hi..." I utter, trying to fight all of my emotions.
What is this fabulous man up to?
"Hi, I hope you happen to have an appetite; I know that it is a bit early..."
"Joon, this..this is beautiful. What is happening?" I ask in awe.
He comes over and wraps his arms around me. "I'm just happy to have you back in my life, and I never officially thanked you for my beautiful cherry blossoms painting. I called Lily with my idea, and she said she could help me out by pretending she needed help with errands," his smile is precious, his dimples on full display.
Dimples!
"You shouldn't have, but I'm glad you did," I reply and bury my head in his chest, my arms wrapped around him.
"Let's eat," he whispers into my hair, and we sit down, taking our time to eat and enjoy the wine.
"I can't believe you did all this," I finally share after finishing my meal.
"I wanted to bring you back to the place where I first laid eyes on you. I wanted to get to know you the minute I saw you sketching."
I blush, "Sorry again about calling you arrogant," I giggle, and Joon laughs wholeheartedly as he reaches under the table to retrieve a package.
I look at the pretty wrapping paper, blue with delicate white flowers. "What is this?"
"Open it," he smiles, a pink blush on his cheeks.
I slowly peel away the paper and find a brand new sketch pad and set of charcoal pencils.
"I secured this area for the rest of the evening. I think it's time you were able to sketch this statue finally," he nods at the bronze statue I had been sketching the very first time we met. "Now, you can take your time with nobody to stop you."
I'm overwhelmed by his tender intention, and my heart swells inside my chest for this man that I adore more than words.
"Oh, Joon," I sigh with gratefulness for his grand gesture, "...and what are you going to do while I'm working on said sketch?"
He grins and pulls out a thick book from under the table, "I'm going to enjoy this new book I bought."
I push my chair out and walk toward Joon, who pulls me onto his lap. "I love you so much, thank you," I utter while running my thumb over his smooth, plump lips, cupping his face as I kiss him sweetly.
When we finally break our kiss, he exhales a satisfied breath, "So, does this mean you will be my date when Yoongi and Lily get married someday?"
"I'll be your date for the rest of your life," I sigh as I lean my head on his shoulder and breathe in the scent of his soap.
"I love you, Miss Ari Lee," he whispers in my ear.
"I love you too."
We spend the rest of the evening with me sketching and Joon reading his book. Sometimes I feel his eyes on me, and when I look over, he winks, pushing a pair of glasses up his nose looking sexy and studious. This moment defines a new chapter in our lives together, a brand new journey to be had, and I can't wait to have this man by my side for as long as he'll have me.
