Who am I to get pissy over this.

I walked over to kent and placed a hand on his shoulder meeting his eyes. I can see the pain and weight I caused moments ago. I can see that he's acknowledging the shit he's put me through in his eyes alone.

"Truce for the time being," I stormed off to the restroom with my luggage.

"St-Stef?" He called out to me.

I didn't say anything, I just stood in my tracks letting him know I heard him.

"I'm sorry for everything and thank you," he was assertive yet sincere.

"Not as much as I'm going to be in the long run," I muttered and went to the bathroom to change into something more- fitting for the part im going to play.

I looked at myself in the mirror- my hair doesn't need a trim anytime soon, which I'm happy with. It's been so much easier to Throw it up in a bun. I'll have my sweatpants, black tshirt and puffer jacket along with my dark grey Jordan's.

I deadass cannot handle this.

It was silent in the cab ride.

I couldn't bare it, I took my AirPods in and played whatever was on the gym playlist Veronica created for me. I very much like it even though im not familiar with any of the artist.

I sat in between the two adults- since im being seen as nothing more than a child.

I nudged kent the moment lillian tried to reach for me discreetly...

I didnt appreciate her assumptioms whatsoever earlier. To dare ask that I don't care. Fine, if it's already in your head that- if you're hesitant about me caring, I won't care. Save you of your doubts.

I will simply play the part everyone wants me to play for this.

She sees me as a great step daughter for her family, so be it.

I'll be the worst one.

The cab stops in the middle of a nice neighborhood- not high end but I say it's nice because I could see kids from afar playing in the streets together.

Definitely something I never had the luxury in experiencing.

A hoard of people were waiting for us to step out the car as we pulled into the driveway.

"Lillian!" Kids rushed towards my dad's fiancé as I haul nothing but my gym bag and a leather duffel bag as my luggage.

It's basically more grey sweat pants, few jeans, t shirts, hoodies, sneakers, socks and three different pair of Jordan's in this damn thing so it's extremely lighter than my usual luggage- not even that, this is my only luggage.

"You must be kent," a fairly aged Caucasian man approached us. His beard was well groomed as it was huge as he wore a causal long sleeve, tattered and stained denims with work boots.

"Mr. Simmons," kent broadly opened his arms with his hand hanging out.

Lillian's dad was standoffish at first but he casually shakes Kent's hand.

"Aren't you just beautiful," a woman with noteiceable grey hairs growing from the roots of her brunette hair smiled brightly at me.

I just looked at her with no expression and stuck my hand out to shake hers. She was obviously taken aback as I could feel Lillian's and Kent's eyes on me.

"between you and me, I hate family drama and we aren't even a family but here we are," I leaned in and whispered.

"Oh my," she gasped and used her other hand to clench her chest as her eyes were wide.
