Ginny and I took one last look in the mirror, ensuring everything was perfect. A sense of dread lurked in the pit of my stomach, like a simmering potion about to bubble over. I pushed it aside and offered a bright smile.

I marveled at how realistic everything appeared. Over time, I'd learned that growing up meant a few things:

1. Hide your pain.
2. Keep calm even when you're a mess inside.
3. Suppress your emotions and fool everyone around you into thinking you're living the life of your dreams.

There was one person who always saw through my facade, and that was my mom. Just thinking about her and my dad made my lip tremble. I couldn't bear the thought of never seeing them again; it was simply too painful.

Ginny must have noticed the troubled look on my face because suddenly, I felt myself being pulled into a comforting hug. "You know I'll always be there for you, 'Mione, no matter the situation. I may not know how it feels to lose my parents, but I do understand the pain of losing someone you love. We all lost something or someone in this war. People lost their families, friends, relatives, and a part of themselves. Just think of Andromeda; she lost everyone. The only one left for her is Teddy, and she didn't give up. She never lost hope, and she's happy and grateful for what she still has. Instead of dwelling on the negative, take a moment to appreciate what you're still left with. Don't take anything for granted. Look on the bright side, 'Mione. You have me, Harry, Ron, George, my mom and dad, Percy, Fleur, Bill, Charlie, Luna, Neville, and countless others. Do you think your parents would want you to be like this? I'm sure they wouldn't."

I nodded deliberately, recognizing that Ginny had a point. My parents wouldn't want me to wallow in sadness. But that didn't make the pain any less intense. Ginny pulled out of the hug and playfully nudged me. Both of us chuckled.

Mrs. Weasley burst through the door, shaking us from our reverie, and informed us that it was getting late.

"Are you sure you don't want to come, Mom? It'll be fun, and a change of scenery would do you and Dad good. You've been stuck at home for so long. It'll be good for both of you," Ginny tried to convince her.

"I'm sure, Ginny, dear. Your father and I just need some time alone. You all go and enjoy yourselves. And you better hurry; it's getting late, and the boys are as impatient as ever. You know how they are. Now, scurry off. Shoo-shoo," Mrs. Weasley said with a roll of her eyes, making us all burst into laughter.

Both of us bid our farewells to Mrs. Weasley, hugging her goodbye before walking out to the garden. George had already informed us that the boys would be waiting there.

As we reached the garden, walking side by side, Ginny announced, "Boys, we are ready."

"Great, I was thinking of dragging you both out," Ron mumbled playfully, and suddenly, a hush fell over the group.

I looked up to see the boys staring at Ginny and me. It had to be either the fact that Ginny looked stunningly gorgeous or... did I look that awful?

Oh, Merlin! I snorted, and Harry looked up at the others. It was dead silent, so quiet that time itself seemed frozen when Harry's gaze locked with mine. His jaw hung agape. Oh dear, I must look dreadful!

Thankfully, Percy cleared his throat, and immediately, Harry's gaze shifted down. His face was a shade of crimson that matched the Gryffindor banners.

Blushing furiously, I felt my heart quicken as Harry cleared his throat sheepishly and finally spoke, "Shall we go, ladies?"

My eyes sparkled mischievously as I closed the distance between Harry and me, my fingers lightly grazing his arm as I took it. "Why, Harry, you look positively irresistible tonight. Lead the way, and let's make them all jealous."

A playful smile tugged at Harry's lips as he replied, "Jealousy suits us, Hermione." He leaned in a bit closer, his voice dipping lower. "But I must say, you're making it very hard for me to focus on anything else but you."

I could feel a warm flush spreading across my cheeks as his words sent a delightful shiver down my spine. The playful banter between us had taken on a romantic tone that made my heart race.

Ginny nudged Ron, and I couldn't help but overhear her whisper, "You see, Ron, that's how it's done-subtle and flirty."

Ron, catching on to the flirtatious atmosphere, grinned and replied, "Oh, I'm up for the challenge. Just you wait, Gin."

With those flirty words hanging in the air, the group apparated away, leaving behind a tantalizing sense of romance and anticipation for the enchanting evening ahead.

In my mind I couldn't help but ponder the nature of Harry and my playful banter. Although our exchanges were filled with light-hearted teasing, deep down, I couldn't quell the yearning within me. I found myself wishing that Harry might harbor the same feelings for me that I held for him.

I was all too aware that Harry's heart belonged to another girl, and that knowledge weighed on me like a heavy burden. Love, however, is a force of nature, and it refuses to be confined or controlled. It follows its own path, independent of reason or intention. It desires what it desires, heedless of the complexities it creates.

In my heart, I grappled with conflicting emotions, hoping for a future where our connection could be more than just playful banter. Yet, for now, I accepted the reality of the present, choosing to cherish the joyous moments we shared under the moonlit sky.
