This is showing a scene and a bit of symbolism from Forelle's book Red Wave.
I figured Switzerland would be a bit thinner because of the black magic taking all his energy. His actual self reflected in the mirror would be even thinner and weaker.
(seriously though, go check out the book and the rest of the series, it's awesome)
