"You're not going to the ball and that's finale. You and your little gang will be staying here and cleaning up the mess you made. Understood?"

"But-!" Alexander cried. He and his friends had been waiting for months to go to the Winter Ball only to be denied by his own fath- by his General.

"Was I not clear?" Snapped George Washington.

Alex answered Washington stiffly "No sir."

"Good, now get to cleaning son."

Alex mumbled under his breath.

"What was that?" asked Washington.

Alex looked up at the taller man, a defiant look in his brown eyes. "I said you're not my dad."

Turning, Washington walked out of the tent and as he did so he answered Alexander. "Not yet your not. Not yet."

"Your father's so mean!" Cried Laf, picking up stray papers and organizing them.
"He's not my dad!" Yelled Alex, frustrated.

The other three men exchanged looks. All thinking the same thing. Yeah right.

"I mean, he acts like it though." Offered John, brushing a stay of hair off of his freckled face.

"Agree," said Madison. As he set a bench back in its place.

Alex rolled his eyes, his mind filled with dreams of dancing with beautiful women and making them fall in love with a simple letter. Dreams of drinking with his buddy's in their fancy outfits and getting wasted under the full moon. But those dreams would only remain dreams.

Alex had accidentally trashed Washington's quarters in a fight with Aaron Burr much to Washington's disapproval. And Alexander's friends had cheered him on.

Stupid Aaron and his stupid-

"OI! Look at this!" Called Laf, holding a stack of paper aloft. They gathered around, reading off what the papers said.

"Their adoption paper for-" said John in amazement.

"Me!" Yelled Alex in surprise.

The other laughed, "HA! I TOLD YOU SO!"
"So he IS your father!"
"That's awesome!"

Alex was in too much surprise to think. Washington wanted to adopt him? Poor Alexander Hamilton whose whole family left him in some what shape and form. Who talks too much and smiles never enough. Who could never tear himself from his work thanks to his stubborn attitude. Washington wanted him?

"Alex? You ok?" Asked John worriedly when he saw the tears in Alex's eyes.

Furiously wiping the tears away Alex nodded. "Never better." A smile spit across his face. "Never better."

And just like that all thought of resentment and anger toward their general, and Hamilton's new father, was gone.
