CHAPTER THIRTEEN: CLOSER // WALLS

I've been fine on my own. Hindi ko na nga maalala kung kailan ako last nagkaroon ng kaibigan, probably during kinder? Mga panahong hindi pa ipinamumukha sa akin ang katabaan ko o kaya naman ang pagkakaroon ko ng pimples.

"Nasagutan niyo na yung questionnaire na pina-assignment?" I sighed and decided to focus on proofreading the essay part of the questionnaire.

For some reason, ever since muntik na ako mag-collapse ay lagi na akong sinasamahan nila Perry. At first I tried my best to avoid them but they were really persistent this time. Kahit anong sabi ko na okay lang ay sinasamahan pa din nila ako.

May it be group activities or eating lunch with me.

It's been weeks and honestly, hinihintay ko na lang na magsawa sila. I constantly gave them a cold shoulder but they didn't mind.

And honestly? It's more of sinasamahan lang nila ako instead of forcing me into things, they don't bother me much but they also make sure to give me a fair amount of opportunities to get involved.

Sa tingin ko nga ay purposely nilang pinaguusapan ang acads for me, I mean. They seem like the popular type of group, they wouldn't have acads as their daily conversational topic right?

"Are you done proofreading?" Tanong ni Rene.

She must've saw me stop typing. Tumango ako at napatango din siya, I think among them my personality is closest to Rene.

Not that I intend on making her my best friend or anything.

"Want me to critic?" I simply agreed.

I'm not worried that she'll copy my answers because I'm fully aware that she's a hundred percent capable of coming up with her own answers.

Habang binabasa ni Rene yung essay ko ay nilabas ko ang phone ko para mag-check ng messages and notifications. Naka silent kasi ito kanina pa, hindi ko na palitan noong natapos na ang klase kanina.

Hindi na ako nagulat sa sandamakmak na mga posted dues and other announcements ang bumungad sa akin. Siguro todo paalala sila dahil may magaganap na event a few weeks from now.

"Ano palang plano niyo sa magiging fundraising event ng council? Do you guys plan on participating or gagamitin niyo yung pagkakataon to make pahinga from acads?" Pagbubukas ni Perry ng panibagong topic.

It's a good thing the council didn't make it mandatory for all students to participate. Although ang pagkakaalam ko, a few colleges made it mandatory kasi gagawa sila ng booths and other contribution sa fundraising.

Hindi naman ganoon sa college namin, I guess they thought that we deserve at least a week off. Sobrang pagod namin since midterms and malayo pa ang sembreak.

"Our org will be actively participating so bisitahin niyo na lang ako to check if buhay pa ako," biro ni Paul.

"Do you have plans Odette?" Tanong ni Liza kaya napatingin sila sa akin kaya napa-angat ako ng tingin mula sa phone ko.

I gave it a thought.

The past days were a bit draining so I guess a week off will help. Hindi ko naman plano umuwi sa amin dahil sure ako na mas nakakapagod iyon.
