CHAPTER TWELVE: DISAPPOINTMENTS // ARCADES

ODETTE

Napapikit ako ng walang pumasok talaga sa isip ko habang nagr-review. 

"You have to get it together, exams are in a few days," bulong ko bago tinignan ulit ang mga nakabukas na libro at notes.

I slightly bit the insides of my cheeks. Unlike my usual review setup, hindi organized ang mga gamit ko, some papers even fell to the ground.

My hand also started to uncontrollably shake for I've been writing for hours now. Para akong mababaliw habang nagiisip kung paanong walang pumapasok sa isip ko habang nagr-review.

I knew that the lessons were hard this sem and maybe I took a bit more subjects than I can handle but I did thought I can pull through. I always pull through.

"Meow?" Napababa ako ng tingin ng marinig ko si Keya.

Inayos ko ang pagkakaupo ko before picking her up. She immediately snuggled close to me.

I then placed her on my lap, got one of the handouts I printed out and read it while stroking her fur.

And soon, I fell asleep...

I woke up because my neck and back were already aching.

"Did I... oh no!" Ng marealize na nakatulog ako ay agad akong napatayo at nagbihis.

I felt a pang of pain on my head so I grabbed some meds and prepared my stuff before running out of my condo. Napatingin ako sa oras at 30 mins na lang mal-late na ako.

I can't be late! May oral recitation kami today, if I miss that or even be late for that class my grades will be affected!

Hinihingal akong nakarating sa klase and thank god I was a few minutes earlier than our professor.

"Odette? Are you okay? You look maputla." Napalingon ako kay Perry ng kausapin niya ako.

"It happens," maikling sabi ko before wiping my sweat.

I tied my short hair para hindi sagabal before proceeding to catching my breathe. I felt cold despite the hoodie I was wearing but I chose to ignore that, I have an oral recitation to ace..

Mabuti na lang at alam ko yung mga na tanong sa akin. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated with the fact that I knew nothing about a lot of questions asked to my classmates.

Ng matapos ang klase ay naglakad na ako palabas, pero bigla akong nakaramdam ng hilo. I lost my balance and was about to trip when someone held my arm.

"Huy! Okay ka lang?" Paglingon ko ay si Paul pala yun.

Nilapitan naman kami nila Perry at Liza. Right, they all became close ever since the group presentation.

"Hala I knew it talaga, you're so putla oh. We don't have classes naman na, we'll make sama na lang to you sa clinic," sabi ni Perry.

Tatanggi pa sana ako pero naramdaman ko din na hindi ko kaya magisa. I then nodded, tinulungan ako nila Paul at Liza habang nanguna naman si Perry.

"Hija ang taas ng lagnat mo! Paano mo pa nagawang pumasok? Uminom ka na ba ng gamot?" Gulat na tanong noong nurse at umiling naman ako.

"I brought some meds naman...po," sabi ko at bumuntonghininga siya bago ako inabutan ng tubig at biscuits.

Umalis na sila Paul, gusto pa sana mag-stay ni Perry pero naramdaman ata ni Liza na kaya ko na kaya naman hinila niya na ito paalis.

I really don't like it when people see me sick.

"Kumain ka muna and then uminom ka na ng gamot, may susundo ba sayo? Mas magandnag may sumundo sayo dahil baka himatayin ka kung saan kung magc-commute ka pa," sabi ng nurse.
