Dear Reader,

I have been a lover of Jane Austen's works for as long as I could remember. There's something about her works that stay with the readers no matter how many times they read them or watch their various adaptations. Her books have stood the test of time and never fail to add sweetness and wit to this world.

It should then be no secret then that my love for Regency romances led to my becoming a fan of the Bridgerton series*. I love what the Netflix adaptation in particular has done to add more diversity to the Regency romance genre. When I saw that the Sheffield sisters became the Sharma sisters, it made me think: what if Filipinos could be the leads in a Regency romance? As a Filipino writer myself, I have longed to see this kind of representation.

Truth Be Told , my first work in what will be a duology, is a twist to the Regency romance in many ways. It's set in a metahistorical Regency era with a Filipina leading lady and it adds a touch of magical realism with our heroine possessing an object with an enchantment to it that's merely part of her everyday life. I aim to capture the spirit of the Regency era while keeping this story modern and adding a magic that's uniquely Filipino. You may notice the use of certain Filipino words and some references to Filipino cultural practices, but the entire story is set in Regency England still.

I hope that you enjoy my debut book and I hope that I can whisk you away, even for just a few hours, into a Regency world of my own creation.

Love,

Lady Green

*This is not a Bridgerton fan fiction nor does it function as one. I am merely inspired by the approach to diversifying Regency romances.
