{ Ashton }

I pulled up to the lawyer's office and sat in my car for a minute. I let out a couple breaths before running my hands down my face. This is not where I want to be. I'd much rather be at home with Oakley.

This was not going to be easy. I've been upset and stressed since I was told Kay was taking me to court. I had called my mom last night and told her what was happening and before I could even speak, I was sobbing at the thought of Oakley being taken away from me.

I finally got out of my car with the manila folder in hand of text and call logs. I never wanted to have to drag Kay but she's trying to take my kid away from me basically- and I'm not letting that happen.

I stopped right outside the office door and straightened my dress shirt, then calmly walked in. I told the front desk who I was meeting with and she sent me back to my lawyer's , James, office,

"Hey. How are you?" he greeted as I entered, standing and shaking my hand,

"I could be better" I nervously laughed,

"I understand" he spoke softly, motioning us to sit.

I took a seat across from his desk and passed over my folder of papers and records I brought. James pulled the papers out and started going through them, highlighting and marking on them. I nervously sat, my leg bouncing up and down, waiting on him to finish.

When he sat everything down and looked up, he pulled his glasses off,

"Based on everything you have and all the evidence, I don't know how a judge will grant her custody" he spoke,

"Do you know why she's fighting for it now?" I asked. James sighed and looked down before back at me,

"She's moving- at least that's what I was told"

My heart fell. She's going to try and get custody and then move Oakley away from me,

"She's trying to rip my kid away" I gritted,

"We're gonna fight this Ashton. She won't win"

I nodded,

"Do we have a date for court?" I asked next,

"Yes. December twentieth. I know it's not ideal-"  he spoke as I cut him off,

"That's literally right before Christmas" I groaned,

"She's moving in January from what I've been told, so we have to get this in"

I nodded.

It was already well past four in the afternoon when I left, but we got everything we needed together so I didn't have to come back again.

I got home and walked inside, finding Oakley running around the living room with Calum,

"Hi princess" I called, dropping my things on the counter,

"Daddy!" She beamed, running to me. I picked her up and hugged her tiny body,

"Did you have fun with Uncle Cal today?" I asked, letting her sit on the counter as Calum made his way over,

"We had tons of fun. We played dolls and makeup. Then we had a tea party" Calum spoke, making Oakley grin,

"Also, she wants a dog" Calum threw at me. I internally groaned. I did not want a dog. Oakley is not ready for a pet. But, I know I'm gonna have to give in at some point,

"Not right now baby. Maybe when you are four" I told her. She nodded with a small pout.

Once Oakley ran off to play, Calum grabbed my attention,

"How'd it go?" he hesitantly asked,

"Kay's moving that's why she's trying to get custody" I sighed,

"Where to?" Calum's eyebrows knitted together,

"Probably back to Texas since that's where her family is"

Calum sighed and patted my bag,

"Everything is going to be okay" he promised, making me nod, "I'm sorry bro but I do gotta head out"

"No worries. Thanks for watching her today"

He smiled and let himself out. As I closed the front door and turned around, Oakley was standing there,

"Mommy moving?"

My heart fell to my stomach.

I sighed and picked her up, carrying her to the couch and sitting down with her,

"Yeah, Mommy is going to be moving but I don't know where" I told her,

"I don't wanna go" Oakley teared up, "I stay here"

"You will babygirl" I promised, not actually knowing the outcome, "I'm gonna do everything to make sure you stay here"

"Don't let me go bye bye"

"I will never let you go bye bye"
