Dove/Ayla's POV
Age: 10
Location: Training Room, Italian Mafia School, New York

"Oh no," I mutter. Out of all the girls, my brother just had to pick one that wants to kill me.

"I know," Donna says. "What are you going to do?"

"Running seems like a good option."

She snickers. "Where will you go?"

"I'll figure that out on the way."

I can remember almost every mission I was ever sent on. The mission where I met Gwenethdolyn Bishop is not a special memory, but certainly one I'll never forget.

The Mafia world gave her the name 'Sweet Psycho' because of her methods of murder and torture. She could've been a German Mafia princess, but her family was overthrown and she was sent into the black market as a child.

Bishop made her first appearance when she 15 and started to rise in rank and popularity.

After our meeting, she disappeared from the market, making everyone think that she had either been killed or made a deal with the wrong people, forcing her to flee.

If she's here now, she must have made an alliance with my parents.

"Did she see your face that day?" Donna asks. I shake my head.

"She saw my number."

"Better keep that hidden then." Donna sweeps my braid off my shoulder so it covers the tattoo on the back of my neck. "You never did tell me what happened, you know."

"There's nothing to tell," I mutter. "I was sent to get rid of her, she fought back, I ended going back to base with a broken arm and a few bullets in my system."

"What did you do to her?"

"I may have shot her..." Donna raises her eyebrow, silently prompting me to elaborate.

"How many times?" Donna asks when I don't say anything.

"Six." I huff when I see Lorenzo kiss the top of her head gently. The eyes they're giving each other makes my heart mushy, but also makes me want to vomit. "Nearly killed her with the last shot."

Donna purses her lips, looking extremely amused. She doesn't say anything at first, but finally laughs quietly.

"Running is definitely a good idea."

"Wow thanks."

Out of the corner of my eye, I see a man walking towards us. He stands awkwardly behind us for a moment before clearing his throat, making Donna turn around.

"It's their lunch break, ma'am. If you'd like to talk to possible candidates, now is the time," he says.

"I'll be down in a minute," she says with a nod.

The man and the other adults in the room exit. I watch as everyone breaks off into groups as the adults, who I assume are teachers or mentors, go to talk to one another.

"Candidates?" I ask.

"I want to have a few assassins I can rely on if I ever need," Donna says.

"Is something wrong?"

Donna shrugs. "It's Mafia. There's always something wrong. It's just a matter if you know or not."

"Who do you have in mind?" I ask. Just from watching, I already have an idea of which people would be good for Donna's selection.

"The girl with colored hair who's with Ella. She seems capable." Donna glances at Lorenzo again. "So does the girl who wants to kill you." She peels her eyes away from the glass and looks at me. "You're obviously my first option. But I want you to live your childhood first."
