They stop at the door, and the nurse leading them opens it." hello, Jeffery." Jeff looks up, tilting his head in the same bewildered expression as ever." We're here to remove the bandages." He nods, and his second unnamable nurse comes in with the irritable doctor from before." Hello Jeffery." Liu greets him with a small wave. Jeff waves back, as he stands up with the Nurses help, them both very gently prodding his legs to straighten as he crosses his arms in self awareness.
"Alright, we're going to just start with the arms." The doctor warns the small family, before grabbing the end of Jeffery's arm wrappings, the male reluctantly lifting it for better assistance. Liu and Peter grab Margaret's hands for support, and she smiled softly, glad her son was even standing in front of her.
They see Jeff's pure white arms, and Liu gasps." Dude, you're white," Jeffery can't help his laugh, as Peter stared in wonder.
His skin, once soft and rough in its respective places, had turned more, in a sense, rubbery, while it was colored a much brighter tone to put it nicely. What was most prominent about him, though, was that he had crimson tawny stains along the right side of his skinny body, revealing where the fire had burned most prominently. The doctor stood in surprise, his eyebrows furrowing as he gazed at the left side of his arm.
"What?" The nurse says in confusion, looking through Jeff's file." This is odd, I guess your cells not only heal fast, but they protect your skin from burning to the severe extent it should have. Or, it didn't protect it but chemically changed the outcome of the burns. I've only seen this with extensive exposer to chemical bleach." He spoke in confusion, as the doctor shrugged it off.
"At least he isn't burnt to a crisp. It's possible his cells got the lack of melanin due to the chemicals..." The rude one spoke, grabbing the bandages that wrapped around Jeffery's torso and removing them. Margaret could spot various wounds still healing, like the long stitched stab in his shoulder.
She kept her smile though, as everyone prepared for the female nurse to remove the face bandages.
She starts to slowly unravel it from his head, and Jeff's shaved hair could be seen, only a buzz cut now as he had to have extensive radiation treatment. To further the oddity of this situation, was that his hair was no longer a dark brown but this deep onyx, almost like an abyss now.
Liu frowned deeply, knowing that this was likely an outcome Jeffery won't like. His hair was a very prominent feature of him, he loved his hair.
But the grievance was cut short when the bandages were taken off completely, and Margaret let out a gasp, tears prickling her eyes as she saw her son's eyebags. His own green eyes were now dull, and red around the edges. But the most striking feature of his new face, was the droopy stitch wounds from when Randy cut his face, resembling a smile. It was swollen still, his cheeks purplish from accommodations the wounds and naturally healing them, while his lips were almost as pale as the left side of his face.
After a moment of recollection, the doctor hands him a mirror, grimacing notably. Jeff lifts it to his face, sitting in silence." Jeffery, it's not that bad-," "Bad?"
His face... Was fucking... That damn little-, if he wasn't already dead, Jeff would kill him. He would kill him, with his bare hands, again, and again and again-
His face was ruined... That...
It was like a switch chimed and his head, and he closed his eyes hastily through the pain and annoyance.
Peter get's ready for it, but is shocked when Jeffery lets out a forced laugh." I love it!" Margaret's eyes widen. He flops back on the bed, still staring at the mirror." I mean, for how he was supposed to look, I think it's good." The nurse reassures as Jeffery laughs again." It's perfect, it goes perfectly with me. With everything," He kept mumbling words, along with stiff chuckles, while he felt the rubbery texture on his arms.
It felt terrible, and burned his fingers. This wasn't his body, it wasn't...
"Is this, normal?" Margaret asked the nurse outside of the hospital room, Liu and Peter talking with Jeffery as he swung his feet on the edge of the bed." Yes," She starts, grabbing the clipboard from her fellow Nurse." It seems Jeff had a lot of head trauma, causing him to have considerable migraines, so we've been giving him painkillers. Someone with such large doses is prone to have situations like dizziness, stomach aches, and hallucinations."
Margaret's eyes widen." We'll bring down the dosage, and give him something lighter. He can start his body therapy in a week. But, I do have a recommendation for a psychiatrist." Margaret bristled lightly.
"You want my son to see a shrink?" "Your son has experienced a major trauma, it's just for him to cope—" "No, no, no, no, my son is fine, he isn't delusional or sideways. He doesn't need a shrink." The nurse frowns, but upon her coworker lightly placing his hand on her arm, she smiled stiffly," I understand Mrs. Hodek." She nods diligently, and with a soft glare at the other woman, before she returns to the room where her family was, calling the two over. They both spring up, following her back to the door.
" Bye Jeffery," Liu calls, and Jeff seemed to jump at the name," Bye-eeehehe," He starts laughing again, his shoulders moving up and down as his head flops to his chest lazily.
Margaret sighs, putting her seatbelt on while Peter starts up the car." So they said it's just because of the painkillers. He should be fine once he's off, and starts Body treatment. That, bitch had the Gall to say he should go to a shrink! Like he's mental!"
Peter nods slightly, as he puts his hands on the wheel. He didn't dare say anything.
"I think Jeffery looks fine." Liu states to calm his mother's tension, putting his own seatbelt on with a smile. He and Sully just had a long conversation about what he should do for his geographic project, and Sully suggested something about movement that he wanted to use.
"For what he could look like, yeah. But Liu, imagine what school might be like now, he isn't exactly too good-looking, people are bound to stare, or even go as far as picking on him." "But wouldn't Jeffery just protect himself?" Peter shakes his head," We're not going to be doing that anymore. No more, getting into fights, or even all this sinning we're doing. None of it, nope." He dismissed it, already driving out of the parking lot.
Liu holds in a groan. He wasn't as big on religion as his parents, nor Jeff. They both found it as a weird obsession.
"Alright, Dad." Peter nods, and smiles." Everything's going to work out fine. We'll get through this as a family." Liu nods, and grins." I can't wait for Jeffery to get home."
